Directv/AT&T Wireless/AT&T Uverse Internet

I have all three. Contracts have run out. I found the Directv thread for cancelling your account and negotiating various discounts and equipment. Is there a deal thread for AT&T Wireless and/or internet? Any advice on bundling? I've heard it's better to stay separate and negotiate your accounts accordingly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My strategy so far is to negotiate Directv into a new 2 year contract with New HD receivers. Because I like having three separate ones rather than the one Genie. (School me otherwise though if you think that's wrong.). Also will ask for $10 off for 12 months. I don't much care about the free movie channels.

For ATT Wireless = new Samsung Galaxy Note 4's for all three of us. Free shipping and free activation.

For ATT Uverse Internet - I'd like to get our $60 bill down on 12 mbps internet.

Wrt DTV, I found they are just a pita and the promotions you can get really depends on how lucky you are with the retention's rep you get and how persistent you are. I used to get good deals when I complained, but now I just seem to get the junk (free HBO and garbage like that I do not want or use) and really can not get the good promos on my account. You definitively want separate DVRs. The genie is fine, but pass on the genie remotes if you can. There is no reason to go that way since the DVRs will increase your recording capacity while the genie remotes are like HD receivers and do not. Of course they may not want to do that for you.

DTV, like all of them, is just a nickel and diming bunch of crooks too, always adding on a dollar here and there every few months to see how much garbage they can get away with. I got so annoyed with them that I scaled back my package to Select over the winter since outside of baseball season, I really do not need the YES channel or SNY as I do not watch basketball or hockey to any great extent. Should have thought of that before.

Can't speak to ATT wireless or internet. I have a $50 a month\1 GB\unlimited calls and text plan with Verizon for the wireless that is fine for my needs and I can not see getting anything cheaper from someone else. I am not one to stream videos on my phone over 4G and use mostly wifi nor am I one that needs to have the latest phone (I am fine with my S4) so that might depend more on how you use the service as to what works best\is the best deal for you phone-wise.

As to what the best strategy is, I personally think that these days one has to do one of 2 things:

1. Cut the cord entirely and go with internet based and over the air TV\movies (which will work fine with the notable exception of live sports, which is a real killer for me).

2. Play the package signup deal game if you can between DTV, Verizon Fios and your local cable company every couple of years and play one against the other to get the best possible setup\deal. The problem with this route is of course that getting a truth in advertising cost\real final cost out of them requires some mystic powers beyond those of mere mortal men with all the BS activation charges, remotes and setup box charges, HD charges, regional sports fees, etc. thay all like to pile on with.
