You will need to downgraded the wifi driver from version v7.17 to v6.30, it's the only way to get WiFi to work, and it's easy to do.

The driver is already installed on the computer. Simply go into device manager and choose WiFi card, then update driver, then click on the "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer". There you will see the v6.30 driver. Select that driver, restart the wifi (or reboot the computer) and its all good.

PDF from Lenovo showing how to open the case and upgrade parts. Again very easy.

*No wifi problem here. I have AC router, may be that's why.

If you install Ubuntu 15.10, You will need to use ethernet to find wifi driver. Also, change the display driver to propreitory AMD drivers and then from the AMD catalyst control center, enable the option for non-tearing of video, aka gsync, freesync etc. Then you will be able to enjoy video without tearing.

One slot of RAM that contains one 4gb module. Buy one 8gb module if you need more ram. 1333 MHz should be enough.

OOS

The SSD in this laptop is made by Samsung, for what it's worth.

According to Lenovo's site the AMD model is max 4GB of memory, implying that the memory is not socketed on this model.

Manual (see PDF page 122, which is printed as page 106):

EDIT:
Amazon Q&A says there are two slots for a max of 8GB:

I saw one review that said he added a second 4GB stick. Problem with the Amazon reviews for this is that they're for all three models and it's not clear if the MB/DIMM configuration differs between them.

I have one. The screen doesn't get very bright - that's about the biggest complaint I have. Otherwise, it's built like a tank - the plastic is very dense, the keyboard is fantastic, and the touchpad is responsive. I thought the speakers were pretty good too.

Wish I could convince my school to buy into these and lock in Chrome. The have potential and reasonable amount of ram.

Then again, Woot
