Some quick summation of the info in this thread that has been so graciously contributed by all the members (feel free to edit if wrong information is present):

- High Credit Limits shouldn't be a concern if spending is low; low credit utilization is a good thing for increasing Credit Score (%C.U. = money owed/total limit)

- There is no annual fee for this card, so no reason not to just open it and keep it open

- This card's rewards rival many others quite well, 3% at restaurants is quite good (especially because Chase counts Fast Food as "restaurants")

- There is no definitive evidence of the 5/24 Chase rule

- Chase has been known to expedite the cards to 1-2 days in transit by calling a rep versus the 7-10 as advertised

- Calling to confirm offer eligibility is a good idea, but offer is fairly common by now so general consensus is that they should offer it once $500 spending is reached!

Where do you see that? I see "Designed for AARP members", but that does not mean it's required.

I am not ready to apply yet, but I left the "AARP membership #" box blank on the application page and I was able to proceed to the next page.

Yes, I applied and was approved instantly. When the card comes, there is an area for the AARP membership number towards the bottom underneath your name and my card is just blank in that area.

200/500 is an awesome deal, and 3% back year round on gas/restaurants sounds good. Discover and freedom probably offer 5% but definitely not year round. Dont know if ill be approved but im gonna give it a shot, might as well save money on my last minute xmas shopping.
