Good price, but a bare drive w/ only a 2-year warranty compared to what is normally a 3-year warranty w/ Toshiba. The way newegg ships bare drives, I'll pass on this. You can get the retail kit (usually) for around $90 which is a tad steep, but for that extra 1-year in warranty, might be worth it.

well, you still have the option of purchasing the 3 year extended warranty for $11. That way, it'll be covered for 5 years.

Limit 3. Stupid newegg. You could have sold me four and now you sell me none. (Unless I create another account.)

Read the reviews guys... Toshiba drives are generally very unreliable and even the reviews on the drive say so. I'd be very careful with what data you store on these drives.

--EDIT--

https://www.backblaze.com/blog/best-hard-drive/

These drives have around a 4% failure rate so they aren't that bad.

I have 12 of these drives running....6 was purchased about 2-3 years ago, the remaining 6 within the past 6-12 months. All running without issues.

Seems Toshiba drives purchased from Newegg have a higher failure rate than the overall failure rate for Toshiba drives.

Yes that's true drives in general from Newegg have worse reviews. I think Newegg uses them as hockey pucks before shipping them out. I bought three of these over a 2 year period with no failures so far. However I always bought the ones that came in the retail box. I bought a fourth one last week. Will be arriving tomorrow from Newegg (retail box) for $79 with 3 year warranty.

newegg sometimes packages these oem drives with a packing peanut and a prayer. well, i know they used to which would definitely account for the failure rate. me? i have 16 of these drives and not a single failure (some are at the 2+ year point)

Using consumer drives in a commercial environment makes this data totally useless unless you're backblaze.

If you ever need warranty service, good luck. Horrible service (or lack of it) reported.Chances are you will considering the high failure rates.
