So Verizon is doing a special deal right now for new service and new lines activation. Giving an extra 2GB per line per activation. I contacted Verizon about this even though we are 3 months into our service with them. Long story short they said no BUT they did offer something else. I figured i would share.

When talking with the Verizon rep this is what was offered.

"Shannon: I am showing you are currently on the Verizon Plan 12GB plan which is $80.00 a month.
Shannon: If you would be willing to move that up to the 18GB plan for $100.00 a month, as per this offer can only be applied on to plans $100.00 or more.
Shannon: That is the catch!
Shannon: Here is the good part...
Shannon: I could add a promotional 12GB bonus data for 24 months. No effect to your contract or anything!!
Me: So 30GB for 100 A month instead of 80
Shannon: That would be correct!!!"

So in total;

18GB + 12GB Bonus Data for $100 a month instead of $80.

This was done through Verizon chat.

Most fails are saying it's "West coast" only....I was able to get this promorion and i'm located in Houston, TX.

*NOTE* if you are on the everything plan and switch to the XL plan, it will increased the per line fee from $15 (assuming that is your current rate) to $20.

However, I asked if there was any discounts for my everything plan and they were able to give me 12GB free (2GB per line) for 2 years as well.. YMMV

I'd like to know this too.

I have 2 UDP plans but need at least 40GB and would like to add my 2 kids to the plan. My wife uses about 6GB and I use around 10GB per month and need some cushion if I were to add the kids.

The new Verizon Plan is an extra $5/month more per line than More Everything. They should make the extra data permanent.

I call via *611. Asked about the promotion from the beginning of the call and she said that that was true. Upgraded from 12 to 18 GB and she gave me a bonus 12gb for 24 months. Took 10 minutes.

Would this offer also stack with the current 2gb/ line when upgrading to a device payment plan?

I'm finally looking into getting rid of the UDP due the price increase.

I recently added 5 lines to our Verizon account (November 13th to 27th) and ported my T-mobile lines in (November 30 to December 4th). I only noticed the bonus 2GB for 'life' promo after all of this. Because I added the lines quite recently, I called 611 and asked if I might receive the 2GB bonus. We're currently on the L-6GB data bundle, but I said I'd be willing to move up to the XL-12GB bundle if we could receive the bonus on the new lines. I was told no can do, because I added the lines before this new promo began on December 3.

I'm thinking of availing myself of the bonus anyways. I see that I can upgrade the phone that's been with Verizon for 10 years, without an upgrade for a little over 2 years (now using a Nexus 5X not purchased through Verizon.) I don't see a phone Verizon's selling that we'd prefer to the Nexus 5x, but I could order a $120 smartphone, get $100 off using promo code UPGRADE, bringing the cost to $49 with the $20 activation fee plus tax. Hopefully I could sell the 'upgrade' phone for about that much. Obviously, we'd continue to use or reactivate the Nexus 5x. Doing all of this just for the bonus 2GB for 'life' (otherwise known as until I change my data bundle, plan, or carrier) seems somewhat wasteful, maybe moreso for Verizon than for the customer. I really wish they'd just let us take the 2GB bonus without giving them $40 for cheap smartphones that we don't want, even if they are selling them at or below cost.

Is anyone else thinking of taking a cheap to no net cost 'upgrade' just to get the bonus 2GB per line per month? Is someone on a device payment plan with no contract eligible to upgrade any line after paying off any device payment plan for that line, even if they purchased a new phone from Verizon recently? Do you see any big problems or gotchas with this planned approach, besides the hassle or the risk that there may be a still better offer in a couple months, shortening the effective 'life' of this offer?
