If I did the rebate on the pre-BF T5i deal with the 18-55 lens, I can still qualify for this rebate correct?

I was able to sell the ink and printer head on the printer on ebay for about $125 after fees. If I can do that again and sell the body for $400ish (seems to be reasonable based on quick review of auctions), I think I can come close to netting a free lens.

Appreciate any thoughts on both the rebate eligibility and advice from anyone that has done these rebates more than once and has experience flipping the various components of the deal.

The usual lens is a 18=55mm lens that has a $199 MSRP. This lens is a 18=135mm lens with a $499 MSRP.

Definitely a better lens, well worth the extra $100.

Yes - 18-55mm vs 18-135mm = more zoom. Typically an 18-135mm lens goes new for around $400 - ebay about $200-$250. Much better point and shoots lens since you can zoom further without having to swap to another lens.

Would this DSLR be good for an amateur/intermediate user? My wife has been asking for one for a few years, and wondering if this would be a good fit for her.

Her mother is a professional artist (Sculpting, painting, photography, etc) and also uses a Canon DSLR (Model number eludes me...), which my wife has had practice with. Just curious if this is a good bundle to jump on because of the price and lens, or if there is a better budget/value offering out there based on her limited use.

I've bought several items from Adorama before, just have never done a large rebate such as this through them. Are they pretty reliable with rebates?

What's a recommended SDHC/SDXC to use with this? Figure I'd grab one from Amazon as a stocking stuffer.

At this price point, you will not regret it... This lens is good overall , good performance in the daytime and ok performance in indoors but any entry level Kit lens will not satisfy this..

If you want Bokeh effect background blur , you can add 50mm F1.8 STM lens to your collection..

18-135 STM is always better than 18-55 STM at any time

I 100% agree.

The rebate is actually through Canon and MANY people here at SD have used it with no problems (I bought a T5i bundle with a similar rebate in August).

The memory card i bought and use with the T5i is:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...ge_o04_s00

Not sure it is any better than any other, but researched it at the time and that card was recommended for DSLR use.

Its a great price, but it depends on what your wife's purpose for the camera is going to be. If it is just casual photography and videography it works well. For entry level camera's I would say that the Nikon D3300, which is usually around the same price point with no rebate offers higher quality pictures - but does not have a touchscreen. The t5i was upgraded only recently in the t6i and t6s models. I personally went with a t5i because i liked the feel and settings of the camera - although at the same time I wish it had Wifi, which the D3300 can have and the T6i does have. I have a bunch of Canon lenses now - so I guess Canon is the way I'm going.

Damn!
That's like buying the lens and getting T5i for free.
Great price. I really don't need another DSLR.

What's a good lens for indoor use and equivalent or higher zoom? Mainly looking for something for indoor photography for kid's plays/performances, friends' weddings, etc.
