How do I reduce PDF file size with Adobe reader XI

Deal2go 5,136 281 December 11, 2015 at 07:54 PM
I don't have an Adobe account or paid service. I don't see any option to reduce size under" save as" or save as other". I am trying to upload passport photo copy on an application but the application says the PDF file size has to be under 300kb. The copy I scanned and tried to upload is over 400kb. I first scanned the passport and than saved it on my documents.

I am not a tech pro so it is such PIA ! Any advice would be helpful!

You could just lower the DPI on your scanner.

If you have photoshop or other graphics programs many can read pdf and then you can reduce the size there.

Vague questions receive vague answers . . . . . .
You could edit the pdf with GIMP []

or you could re-print the pdf with something like CutePDF selecting a lower quality setting. If the file you upload doesn't have to be a PDF just scan it as a PNG file with lower resolution or even in black and white or grayscale.

AFIK, Adobe Reader doesn't have the ability to shrink a pdf.

choose "File > Save As > Optimized PDF...", as opposed to "File > Save As > Reduced Size PDF.
