I have been searching this thread for what seems like at least an hour! I am trying to find an example of a Craigslist ad. I have a big sale coming up this week and I really want to get something posted ASAP! I was able to find one link but it didn't work anymore. I promise to save a copy of it and share when others ask.

It was pulled for some reason. Never had a problem before. I only change the dates, but use the same text every time. Different items are added constantly, depending on the coupons I’m using and the sales in different stores. Mostly Deodorants, shampoo, toothpaste, mouthwash, detergents…. & other Hygiene, Grocery and Personal Products. These items are all brand NEW and are priced well below retail cost. Come by and check it out. For an itemized list of available items & the possibility to reserve some, please contact me as soon as possible! |

My garage is Bursting!! I keep having to buy more bins to hold all my crap! Anyway...going to have a GS 8/17-18 and pricing stuff dirt cheap just to get rid of it! Seriously. I did like $800 last time and barely diminished my stock. I have easily 200 bottles of shampoo/conditioner that just need to GO.
Anyway...question for those that GS in 4 season climates. Do you hold GS all year round? If so, how is business in the colder months?? |

I think I'll try selling the photo paper and see what happens. I was going to sell it on ebay but people aren't making any money on there after ebay fees and shipping. I can't believe some of you have so much stuff to put in a garage sale! I usually have a tub or two of stuff, and thats from going to CVS usually a couple times a week. Not sure how I'd get more stuff! Do you buy lots of newspapers?

I had a sale on Saturday, sold the only 2 Lichi's I had, $3 each, same person bought both, first thing in the morning too! I have people all the time come and think they are buying me out by spending $15, of course they want a deal, I tell them I have customers who come and spend $100, and don't expect one cent of a discount!!! I just don't get it, how do they not think they are already getting a deal, I sell most items cheaper then what I see posted on here, most everything is 50% walmart price, the only things I don't sell really cheap are paper towels and toilet paper, I sell bounty basic for $4 and better paper towels for $5, I sell scott for $5. I try and be nice but sometimes people just don't stop running their mouths! This lady a few weeks ago was something else. She walked up to the sale with a friend, she really only looked at the makeup bins and just kept commenting how the items should be out of the sun, it wasn't too hot when I first set up, and I was going to move it out of the direct sun but never got a chance because all day there was atleast 2-3 people digging. So she's done and has a handful of make ( I don't know about the rest of you, but makeup doesn't sell well for me, so I price it usually 75% off drug store prices, I don't know walmart prices on makeup) anyway she has about 10 items and says, can I get a deal, not nicely either, I saw sorry all my items are priced to sell, she then looks at me like I have 3 heads and says this is a garage sale, and I said yes, and I can charge what I want and you can either pay it or not!!!! Then she throws in the fact that the makeup was sitting in the sun and melting all morning, then I come back with ....then WHY do you want to buy it???? OMG people are nuts She then slams the handful back in the bin and walks aways running her mouth! Last edited by Cheapkate; 08-06-2012 at 08:41 AM.. |

I used to have garage sales 30+ years ago and truely sold what I considered junk (my mother in law called us up and told us to bring JUNK because the JUNKIER the better things were selling at her first ever garage sale. So we tried it and she was right. My hubby sold wire coat hangers and used rags for more than a pack was selling for at KMart full price (pre walmart days). Anyway............ I would put out used make up and it always sold!....... 25 cents - $1. USED! So this woman............. she is likely comparing your new items with stuff she can get at typical GSs......... probably doesn't care it's new. We sell name brand products and maybe they are thinking what they can get off brands for (the only reason I can come up with for not being able to sell pampers). The people who buy a ton of stuff............. they don't ask for a discount. They are the ones who shop in regular stores and know what a deal they are getting. It's always the ones who have two - five items....... I'm buying ALOT from u! I need a discount! My response is.......... someone else will buy it if you don't and you can buy this, this and this (out of what they have) for that much. They might whine more, but they either cave and pay or buy one or two things less but rarely leave without paying for something. Last edited by GoHalos; 08-06-2012 at 09:16 AM.. |

My advice is not to worry about it. Who knows? I had my ad pulled randomly a couple times and I just reposted it without issue. (I always sort of suspected it was done by a fellow couponer who didn't like what I was doing.) Meow.
I am not a cat lover. My sister is deathly allergic to cats. When we were growing up we wore each other's clothes and if I ever even touched a cat, she would be ill for days. I learned to stay away from them and, just from habit, mostly still do. As I said, I am not really a cat lover. (Now CATS are another thing altogether!) |

I use to set up next to a man at the flea market that was great at handling these people. He sold antiques and older stuff. They would ask how much something was and then after he told them they'd say something like "it has a dent in it" he'd say something like, " yeah, well I'm throwing that in for free" |
