UPDATED 12/22 HOLIDAY PROMO ANNOUNCED

Good news the current promotion could be extended even further. The promotion will close tomorrow 19th at 11pm PSD.

------------

RingPlus Announcement: http://discourse.ringplus.net/t/8620

What Is RingPlus
  • What is RingPlus - RingPlus gives free phone service by playing advertising or music instead of a ringer. Only requirement is atleast 1 call every 60 calendar days to avoid account closure
  • Is it free / What is a topup - There is no monthly charge. There is a mandatory topup charge at signup that is only used if you exceed the monthly allotment. If you never do then you'll never be charged for another topup. The topup is absolutely non refundable or transferrable
  • Will my phone work - Most unlocked phone that support Sprint's frequencies (including Boost & Virgin) will work. Check phone here [ringplus.net]. Compatible non Sprint / GSM phones [ringplus.net]. One exception is Virgin's Data Done Right phones
  • SIM card - All LTE phones require a Sprint or MVNO (Boost, Ting, Virgin) SIM. Be sure to buy the correct SIM. SIM models and price info. If you buy a new phone it'll come with a compatible SIM
  • Cancellation - RingPlus service can be cancelled at anytime without any fees, but top up is lost.
  • Roaming - requires a separate one-time top up to sign up on any plan, then there are per MB/min fees when used, but this requires temporarily linking your checking account with Zipmark for identity verification and the one-time top up.
  • 911 - 911 is handled just like every other phone. The phone goes into the special 911 mode and connects directly and also can roam on other carriers for free

Taxes on Add-ons
Normally you only pay tax on top ups on free plans, NOT monthly, but:
Add-ons taxes - http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=80269673&postcount=644
Tax / Fee bug http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=80704715&postcount=1544

Upgrades
Examples of supported phones - http://slickdeals.net/f/8369365?v=1

RingPlus Free Plans and Paid Plans Include the following:
  • Free Voicemail to email transcribe and mp3
  • Call recording and transcript to email functionality
  • Free parental control functions ( data, text, on and off by time ... Call filters for out and in going calls )
  • Phone booth call expense monitor for international calls
  • Open API for development

Additional Features include:
  • Roaming if you link your bank account to zipmark and pay per minute/per MB roaming charges. (see more detail in the main wiki.)
  • In call live translation services for $.20 per minute

So just a heads up to all RingPlus newbies...

RingPlus uses real Cell Phone Minutes and not VoIP, resulting in better call quality.

RingPlus uses the Sprint network, but traffic goes through R+ servers which results in a small additional amount of latency.

Within the past few months, there has been one incident where voice calling was unavailable for several hours, but mobile data continued to work. This has happened with other expensive services from time to time.

So in a nut shell, this service is great as a free service but keep in mind that it may go down just like any expensive service directly from the either Verizon/ATT/Sprint/T-Mo. But many RingPlus customers have become very confident in the service have switched to RingPlus as their only cellular service.

$40 BestBuy Moto E Deal to get deal done in one day
It took me a total of about 2 hours. Purchase online + driving took 1.5 hours and 30 minutes to activate the new phone and service with R+.
Verizon Moto E will NOT work on RingPlus. It might be carrier unlocked to work on ATT or Tmobile.
The only Moto E that works on RingPlus is the Sprint Prepaid or Boost or Virgin Mobile version. And this version can't be easily carrier unlocked to work on GSM carriers.

NOTE: THIS WILL WORK OUT OF THE BOX AND NO NEED RINGPLUS+ SIM. And it doesn't need any mod or rooting of it of any kind.
Hi that is what I did exactly....
1.) Purchase the BestBuy $40 deal to get the Moto E Prepaid Sprint Cellphone via BestBuy online or in store and do a store pickup.
2.) Get any plan from RingPlus+.
3.) Fill out the survey.
4.) Link account to a FaceBook, Twitter, or the other social media service website (Only needs one.).
5.) Before activating your new phone, don't open the Moto E box at all or power it on. The required information is at the bottom of the Moto E box.
6.) Check to make sure the phone is eligible to work with RingPlus+ by inputting in your IMEI (at the bottom of your Moto E box) at here: https://my.ringplus.net/device_va...quests/new
NOTE: You can check eligibility this in advance of registering an account or signing up for a line.
7.) Once you verify the IMEID is eligible; you can register for a new line. The ICCID will be required as well for LTE phones like the Moto E.
7a.) You will get a confirmation page that it has completed with your new cell number when you purchase your RingPlus plan service and what you need to do to "provision" it.
8.) You will then be able to power on your new Moto E and let it complete a hands-free activation.
9.) After I got the Moto E working, I connect to Wifi in my home to download system updates to save on mobile data usage. The Android 5.1 update is a 300 MB.
10) When done just go back to your RingPlus confirmation page and check the all done page, and it will take you to the Dashboad webpage to see your plan and how much data, voice, and texts are available as well as other configuration changes you can make.

A few things to keep in mind is you might wanted to disable the translator over the phone app function that charges a small fee. The MMS is charged at 4 cent each. It can be disabled in the dashboard.
Update: Confirmed Moto E can enable Tethering via Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot if you have RingPlus tethering service.

MrMasterQ (corrected terrible grammar and errors)

*I would highly recommend using Zoiper as a sip client and using the available RingPlus Wifi FluidCall in case you have issues with latency on voice calls. You can make calls from your laptop, and once I played around with it, I've been able to make calls with zero latency and it shows my phone # when calling. It's a pretty nice option just in case you're at a place with good wifi and a desktop/laptop and you usually have calls that have serious lag - jho*

Swapping vs. New line Waiting Period & Requirements
Swapping can be done to any eligible phone, it doesn't have to be a
"new" in box phone. The phone can't be active on any other plan, though.
You can use the ESN checker on RingPlus' website to check eligibility.
And you need a balance on your account to pay for the swap. No phone on
the account can be in the middle of a port-in process. Swaps into an
existing free plan also require no waiting period, even if the device was
recently on a canceled free plan or swapped out of another free plan.

Activating a "new" free line with a canceled or swapped out phone from a free plan
will require you to wait until the end of the billing cycle. In that case,
RingPlus gives a message when you can activate a new free line again with the
phone, and it may be a very short time depending on where the plan
(that it came from) is in its billing cycle.

*Current promo extended to midnight tonight
https://discourse.ringplus.net/t/...night/8949*

Note: Ring.to is NOT RingPlus. Ring.to free service is ending, but they are totally unrelated to RingPlus. Please ignore anyone who says RingPlus free service is ending, as they are mistaking Ring.to with RingPlus!!

If you're getting "Credit Card Gateway Rejection: AVS" error please follow the instructions from R+ Support .. including checking your address on the USPS link: http://support.ringplus.net/suppo...ection-avs

No-root built-in tethering. Works on LG Tribute 2 & LG Stylo, (& maybe other LG phones as well) Note: Built-in tethering requires an account that allows tethering. Otherwise, you'll see an error when you enable it. Thanks and reps to Kumo for this: http://slickdeals.net/f/8308959-lg-tribute-2-with-8gb-memory-no-contract-cell-phone-blue-19-99-w-fs-virgin-mobile?v=1&p=80352473#post80352473

Not to mention all the people that have confirmed in the various SlickDeal RingPlus threads that they've been upgraded. Smilie

These plans do keep getting better and better though. I'm feeling mighty tempted to upgrade my Leo3 to Leo5, simply because I don't need to tether except maybe once in a blue moon.
