Allow programs to update in windows security

juiooui 26 10 December 14, 2015 at 09:58 AM
I have a outside program that I use for accounting and insurance that every so often the compnay releases a update for the program (monthly) but users that are Standard users under windows 7 cannot install these updates so then I have to go around to each computer and install the updates.

Is there anything I can do as the admisitrator to allow this certain program to automaticcly update while user the Standard user? can I somehow grant permision to do so ? and how?

How many users are you talking about? Is it a standard program like quickbooks or something custom?

Are you running WSUS or SCCM?

I know there are paid professional packages designed for updating software you could probably make to do this. How are you udating your browsers, PDF program, and the other ancelary type stuff.

After carefully reading your post. I would like to recommend that you 1st log onto each PC as administrator and then follow the Technet [microsoft.com] instructions to Set Application-specific Access Permissions. This can be accomplished via group policy too. Done once and after that the program itself will always have the permissions required.
