Here are some of the speed tests I did.

Per customer service rep, works for anyone without a current subscription, even if you have had PIA in the past.

Anyone paid and tried frootvpn?

Best legal reason? If you're accessing secure websites and you desire "extra protection" against data threats - especially on public wifis.

Of course, a VPN doesn't protect against everything and blah blah blah blah blah......(there's always going to be someone who had that one time where someone hacked their account while using a VPN) but a VPN is much better than being on Target's wifi unprotected or at your local bookstore with the cheesy network name.

Now, why do many use VPNs?

Masking your identity for "downloading" purposes. When you aren't getting those notices from your ISP that 21st Century Fox caught you downloading Family Guy, you'll appreciate a VPN.

And ot note, I get the expected speeds that I'm supposed to get using the closest server to me while using PIA. Of course, picking one further away affects my speed. Texas though has over 10M residents....so I feel comfortable keeping it close to me
You posted a link and did not bother to read the story before you did. PIA fixed the issue even before they were told. So no its not an issue.

Speeds are crap. 1MB/s if you're lucky. Pointless to pay for a decent FIOS connection, only to get throttled by your VPN. Meh.

some servers can be slower... I tend to use the East US one and get 1.5-1.7mb/s normally.

I was with pia, but just switched to torguard. Speeds for me are WAY better with tg. I used nl servers for both services. Ymmv.

Very slow VPN. My speed goes from 60 mbps to 1.5 mbps using this vpn, rendering this almost useless.

Just saw the following and not sure if it's still an issue...

Huge security flaw can expose vpn users’ real ip-adresses:

I keep seeing people complain about the speeds. I don't have any speed issue. I get my full Internet connection speed regularly. Download and upload speed is fast, be it a torrent of whatever I'm downloading, uploading to clouddrive, or just normal browsing. And no, it's not just using a non-vpn connection, per these results at ipleak.net [ipleak.net] (no, I'm not in Chicago).

According to the link you provided you are not even using PIA. You are on AirVPN. And I did not even see a speed listed.

my speeds are fine. I know it's not accurate, but I get 27/15 Mbps on speedtest.net
