Oh boy - don't look for too much help here. The SD Staples crowd will (rightfully) expect you to search first and educate yourself before answering any questions.

Hint: many of the avenues have closed with Staples' recent policy change on rebates.

In the spirit of being helpful, start here:

Good luck!

Depends on how much work you want to put in:

1. Sell the gift card to gift card site. Will prob get like 80% of thier value.
2. Buy visa/MC gift cards with the staples gift cards (lots of cashiers and managers dont like it, but it is possible). Gift cards are $200 with a 6.95, so roughly 96% of thier value.
3. Buy FAR items and get the rebate back. Can get more than face value if the rebate is a MM.
4. Buy something that you can resell.

ksquirees1991, thanks for trying to help, but outside of #1 and #4, your suggestions are incorrect and potentially very damaging.

OP - please DO NOT listen to his"advice". Again, please read the threads already on SD for plenty of information, but do not attempt to buy gift cards with a Staples gift card. Even if the manager allows it, A) your account can get blacklisted and/or B) the manager can get in trouble and you can forget about ever getting any of the clearance deals.

Search Staples employee threads on Reddit for more interesting reading.

They were simply suggestions. First off, you will NOT get blacklisted for any of this. None of it. I am blacklisted. I know what it was from.... I did mention that some cashiers/managers do not like the gift cards for gift cards thing. So that is fair warning enough. If they tell you no, you will still not get blacklisted. In addition to that, a blacklist is only online and there is plenty of ways around it. It will not stop you for instore deals, nor clearance deals.

Next, Why would you tell him that buying items is not a fair option? There is a thread on staples FAR stuff EVERY WEEK. Let me repeat that, EVERY WEEK. If it was wrong, would get you blacklisted, or not possible, then it wouldn't be posted every week.

If you have a better option for him to unload his GCs, be sure to share. But I would appreciate it if you do not bash my postings for something that you are obviously uninformed with.

If you wanted to then you could just sell them on eBay. I know that a lot of people sell gift cards online there. There is also some app that you could use to sell them.

If OP sold $100 Staples GC for $100 through Ebay, how much would he get? What % would Ebay get? Any chance of buyer scamming and not having to pay?
