I've been watching the price drop but can't get myself to pull the trigger due to some reviews. Does anyone here have any first hand knowledge about this game? I like playing Animal Crossing New Leaf so I'm familiar with the characters & understand the difference in game play. Please share if you have any insight. TIA

Most of the bad reviews I've seen either gloss over the mini games or don't mention them at all. They harp on the main board game for not having a lot of variety. The main board game is kind of like an Amiibo-infused Game of Life. The mini games are actually better than the board game. It's perfectly fine for younger kids, as long as the expectations are right--this is not an Animal Crossing game.

Thanks for info. What do you think about the replay value? So I'm guessing that you need as many amiibos as players.

Admittedly, the replay value will depend on the age of your kids. The island escape game is pretty fun, but the board game will be pretty boring if you have to read everything to really young kids. You actually don't need more Amiibos--those without will use villager characters (though they won't get points for rolling dice on their turn). A spot on review is available at Nintendojo: http://www.nintendojo.com/reviews...ival-wii-u

I don't understand Nintendo's insistence on pricing a glorified Mario Party rip off at the same price as a full blown AAA title.
