Computer with ECC RAM support

Hello,
I am assembling a CHEAP PC for long-term numerical computations under linux (mostly single threaded, which may take a month and longer). Therefore need ECC support (I believe non-buffered ECC is fine). The motherboard must support 32GB. Don't play games or any 3D graphics.
which motherboards/CPU would you advise?
which ECC RAM do you use?
I already have Corsair 430CX PSU, HDD and ATX case.
Input/output to HDD will be very low.

I am thinking about buying some refurbished Dell server from sale, but afraid that it has an non-standard power connector (I already have one very old Dell motherboard like this and could not find a converter for it).
I never had experience with ECC supporting hardware, so any advise is useful.
Thanks!

A Deal like this might have been a good starting point if you didn't already have a PSU, HDD, and case: Dell PowerEdge T20 Server G3220 Dual Core $139 + free shipping

I've heard that eBay can be a good source for ECC RAM.

Thanks, but I am afraid that if power supply dies, I will have to throw away a motherboard at least. Do you which power connector is in the servers you mentioned above or can recommend a power adapter for standard power supply?

The connectors are standard, but the power supply is about the last thing to worry about in a Dell machine - they use very high quality PSUs.

Which server are you talking about?
I was told on another forum that one needs an adapter for Dell servers.
