Uniqlo Frontpage Deal Disaster

crabshell 6 13 December 20, 2015 at 08:34 PM More UNIQLO Deals
Uniqlo had a promo code listed as part of a Frontpage Deal back on December 11. I repped it, placing an order with the coupon code -- or so I thought. A full 6 DAYS later, I received an email from Uniqlo customer service that they had cancelled my order due to the code being "invalid." Customer service offered no further consolations. To add insult to injury, one of the items I ordered doubled in price (they didn't offer me the previous price). So all things considered, I won't re-order.

I don't know if SlickDeals staff reads these posts, but Uniqlo is a "featured store" on the site. Considering how they handle customer service issues I won't put much faith in deals by featured stores going forward unless I've dealt with them previously.

Oh... and read Uniqlo's feedback when you do a Google search. What a bunch of clowns.

We do read these threads. For the record, I'm just speaking for myself here. I'm not sure that this is the official position of slickdeals:

It's a bummer that orders were cancelled, and also that it took Uniqlo so long to send out the cancellation emails, but I think that this was a fairly predictable sequence of events. This was the thread: http://slickdeals.net/f/8365125. Comment 11 is already guessing that orders will be cancelled and comment 14 clarifies that this is probably a one-time use coupon that got out of hand. In the next 20 or so comments there are another 4-5 users talking about the potential for cancellation. You could argue that we shouldn't have frontpaged it knowing the chances of the orders being cancelled, or that we should have included a disclaimer or something, but the fact is the deal was exciting and every once in a while, these things go through. Sometimes, orders are cancelled but everyone who ordered ends up with some sort of special make-good, which can be great. Other times, you just get a cancellation email.

I think that if you understand that, and go into these deals with your eyes open, you will enjoy things quite a bit more. For example, an hour ago I ordered a $70 queen mattress (http://slickdeals.net/f/8389357). I'm not going to hold my breath, but if that ends up shipping, it will be awesome.
