Meh... this has been at this price range at various retailers since BF, if not earlier.

My understanding is that the onboard SSD is proprietary. I have not seen any available upgrades for the 2015 macbook pro or air SSDs.

This is a very good laptop. Coming from a windows user, I've never owned a Mac. the build is very solid and with Retina makes it sweet. I love it.

I bought via Adorama $ 1099 deal back in BF to save tax in California. so this is not a good deal if you factor in the tax

Upgrade the hard drive by using a $30 128GB USB3 flash drive... Works seamlessly

Just to clear things up, short answer is no, you cannot upgrade without buying from Apple directly, and they do not sell parts like that.

The connector for PCiE-gen SSD on MBP, 2015 being one, is M.2 PCiE. The connector works, but this MBP will only recognize the SSD if it has Apple's own firmware. As of now, no one, not even OWC, has the new M.2 PCiE SSD with Apple firmware yet.

But given time, 3rd parties always come up with work arounds like all previous gen MBPs. Time will tell.
