Where do you guys get good quality 18650 batteries for these kinds of lights? I've got one that uses 18650s but I've been having issues finding genuine capacity batteries that have the protective circuit on them, they seem abnormally expensive considering a laptop battery can be had for $10-15 and typically has 6-8 unprotected cells in it.

I ordered this the last time from Amazon work lightning deal.. sold by revtronic.. the switch didn't work as claimed.. it wouldn't just click off, but kept cycling through modes.. extremely bright.. so, when it starts blinking for SOS, it kinda hurts eyes.. one point, it came on by itself while in the box, got extremely hot.. If I hadn't noticed, would've melted down.. I hate cycling through modes..I want simple on off ..

I got one of these a few weeks ago when it was $13 (IIRC), and I'm very impressed. It's extremely bright! The beam has a slightly annoying ring around the outside, and it's a relatively cool white (4000-5000K?), but those are really minor gripes. It feels quite well made, it's brighter than my $40-50 lights, and it's very usable. Great value.

Edit: no issues with the switch on mine. A light press cycles between modes, and a full click turns it off. Turns back on to previously used mode.

They should make these with a switch on the side that tongles from on and off mode, to multimode.

Stupid question:

If you get this, do you need a special 18650 battery charger?

yes, and yes.

Another happy camper here. I have a xml-t6 with two batteries that feels embarrassed when I turn this C8 on. So I'm buying another C8 to keep it company.

Great flashlight for the little I know.
