Refurbished Laptop from Staples with faulty battery? What to do?

ms2000 1,316 32 December 23, 2015 at 06:08 PM
It has 1 yr warranty.

I like the Laptop - but the batt needs replacement - it costs around $100. Spent around $400 for the Laptop.

It was delivered 2 days ago. Staples sells these batteries for $125 - will they sell it to for free for not returning the Laptop? Any other thoughts?

Contact the manufacturer and they will either send you a replacement battery (be prepared to give them a CC# as they will usually want the old one back and the CC# is a guarantee that you'll send it back or be charged for it) if its user replaceable, if not the laptop will need to be shipped to them and you will need to pay one way shipping. Or return the laptop and order another one.

Lenovo T430s
Vendor is Joy Systems Inc - they are on vacation now.

T430s has the last 6months of 4yrs warranty from Lenovo - t&c says warranty for batt is 1yr - so I believe Lenovo won't honor the batt replacement?? What is Lenovo is like?

Contact them when they get back. They are the one's giving it a warranty.

Per their website:
Q: My Laptop battery does not last very long, why is that?
A: The industrie's standard life of a battery is around 45 minutes for all refurbished batteries, of course our battery last longer than that but we do not gurantee a long lasting one. If your battery last less than 45 mins please contact us see our warranty section for exchange.

Which basically means the unit has its original battery and if you want one to last longer than 45 minutes you need to purchase your own. Their industry standard is BS.

At that price I'd go for two. I don't think you'd do much better at ebay. Just don't have high expectations how long the computer battery will last. And don't expect to see the battery for around two weeks.

Some reading fwiw:

Thank you - My batt has "81+" printed on it. Whereas the above batt does not - the guy I spoke with said 24/7 and I thought he is based overseas - the pict is also looks different to the extent if would fit the laptop or not!

On eBay I found one stating "Genuine" for $48
