lol... a 50% "prices slashed" banner on the front page and not a single real deal. The markup must have been +150%.

I would say Yes as the two brothers in charge plead guilty to tax evasion and fraud in November, 2015. Sentencing is slated for February, 2016.Frown

This doesn't bode well for our FAR deals or IC subscriptions...

This was written all over the wall a couple months back. That's when I stopped buying their stuff especially the FAR items! Goodbye TD! It was nice dealing with you.....

Does this mean Newegg/Frys/ etc raise prices, become less customer friendly due to lack of competition???

probably, but seems like it might make room for a new competitor to get a foothold, too.

Did they truly offer any real competition? Other than FAR stuff and McAffee deals, I don't recall them having decent deals all that often. Price mistakes usually got cancelled.

After not recieving couple of rebates, I stopped buying from them a while back, However I don't like having less competition either .

FWIW - Maybe the deal didn't go through or they are starting over .=

Really doubt that the death of TD will really change the retail landscape and don't see that they were making a huge impact in sales volumes of NewEgg, Frys, etc. There's still plenty of competition. I saw this months ago too, growing rebates reminded me of CyberRebates (though not as extreme, but had that feel to it), have not purchased anything in over 6 months from TD. A deal is not a deal if you don't get the rebate.

Yes. I bought had a few items in the past but mostly were undercut by competition. I bought items from them because of free shipping and no tax to CA and I come out ahead. With Newegg and Fry's, they have one or the other or both.

Edit:

From experience (before their down turn a few mo ago), they're rebate program is not bad at all as I'm 100% successful and they are faster than Newegg.

Fry's is still the best with timeliness (don't know if that's appropriate term for rebates as they're all slow, in my book) and success rate, 100%.

Did we confirm that TD is actually dead or is this all speculation by blowing one change in policy out of proportion?
