I bought an open boxed one a week or so ago and it was a lemon. Returned it. The remote was laughable

how is this thing so cheap? i understand it's RCA, but reviews on Microcenter aren't terrible outside of having to tweak picture settings.

Fry's product description says 65" but labels the title as 55".

hey solc,

I was reading your posts in another thread and see your experience was in regards to an open box version you got. seems like your experience may be an isolated incident. i'm not completely disregarding your review, but it doesn't jive with those of the people who bought this set new. understand picture settings likely need to be tweaked, but looks like you got a lemon.

speakers and optic port were also broken. Pic settings were reset, and that's as good as it got for us

i guess i should take it as more than ironic that the reason i'm in the market for a 55" is that the one i have just crapped out...which was an RCA. first tv i've ever owned that stopped working. still a very tempting price to hold me over for a few years until 4k content improves, on the fence.

own this TV. bought it at $500. I really like it for the price. have not hooked up anything above 1080p to it though, but that looks great. I'd definitely recommend it for the price!

For $30 you can get 4 year warranty [costco.com] (1st year through manufacturer and 2-4 are covered by SquareTrade) on this through SquareTrade by purchasing through Costco. Coverage for in house service and no deductible. Should cover you until 4k content improves and other brands drop in price.

Has anyone tested if its similar to the other cheap (read: Sceptre) TVs in regard to chroma subsampling? People in those threads reported that their video cards were able to output 4:4:4 to the Sceptre, even though the Sceptre could only display in 4:2:2. Which in my book, isn't totally a bad thing given the price. If this TV did the same, I'd be pretty interested.
