Toshiba SSD Warranty Issue

zamac_man 842 67 December 24, 2015 at 05:27 PM
My toshiba ssd is fried. I don't think it has any power, because it does not get detected. I tried external devices and multiple sata cables/power.

It is a q-series bought from amazon, not some random seller on amazon. Purchase date September 9, 2013.

When I put in my serial number I get:

Quote :
Serial number determined to be sold to a system manufacturer with a unique system warranty and should be returned through the system manufacturer. If you have any questions you may contact Toshiba at 1-877-689-4899. Exp Date: 2016/08/27
Does that mean this drive was originally put into a device by an OEM provider?

And no, I did not take this out of a machine, it came from amazon in a toshiba box. Confused

it was probably bulk bought to be put directly in a machine.

Contact Toshiba support with a copy of your Amazon receipt to prove that you purchased it retail. They might be willing to help you out.

I would actually do the opposite - contact Amazon with a screenshot from the Toahiba site. They should make it right. Sometimes Amazon will sell bulk or grey market items and offer a third party warranty because they know the manufacturer won't honor it. I've seen this be the case with watches before, but there's no reason they couldn't do this with other things.
