I keep getting notifications that the Costco/Amex alliance is ending and that soon, my Amex will be cancelled. Not sure why they are not offering to roll it over to another card. I am getting offers for the blue everyday, but it seems I have to apply for it, which means a hard pull.

I have a $25,000 credit limit on my Costco Amex, in large part to charging thousands in business expenses per month over the last few years. I enjoy this high limit and am concerned about an Amex replacement giving me a much lower limit.

My profile is excellent. My credit score is 823. I make 6 figures and have $500,000 in my retirement account. Based on these figures, can anyone recommend a replacement Amex?

Should I call them and speak to a rep or just apply for something online?

Thanks for any assistance.

Since when does the amount in your retirement account have a anything to do with getting a credit card?

"This whole.. I have XX company so my pee pee is 2" longer talk is hilarious. Who cares what company is cheapest, best, etc. Pick the company and plan you want and keep it to yourself."

If you're trying to avoid a hard pull, I would ask AMEX to replace that card with a different card in the same category. AMEX will change cards without a credit check if you're changing cards in the same category.

I am wondering if AMEX is waiting to see what the New Costco Visa card will offer and then have a blitz campaign to retain customers by offering something equivalent. is prefer to use one card and rather get cash than points but AMEX has been really good to me with the occasional disputes and warranty claims over the last 10 years or so.

I wouldn't be surprised. I asked AMEX about card options for costco and the customer representative told me that I will receive more information as we get closer to April 2016.

I'm going to wait until closer to the cut-off date. So far, AMEX has tried to woo me with a public offer for their Blue Cash Everyday card. Why apply when I can apply anytime and get the same offer? Needs a better retention offer.

You're not going to avoid a hard pull unless they automatically replace the cards if they cancel them. The funny thing is that I got a new True Earnings card with a chip in it this month with a 2020 expiration date.

I got a paper application in the mail for a blue card and it asked about cash assets, and in parens, it listed 401k type of assets.

first, i believe the current theory is that the costco amex card will be replaced by a citi visa without any need for application.

my costco amex cracked and when i called to get a replacement they offered me 200 cash back on 1000 spend in 3 months, so i went for it, no paperwork and very few questions. they gave me the same limit as the costco card had without asking.

with an 800+ credit score, i wouldn't worry much about a single pull. the score will take a slight dip and should be pretty much back to where it was at within a few months.

edit: removed the wrong

Costco American Express Card holders need not apply for any new credit cards nor take any other immediate action regarding their Costco American Express Card(s). We want to assure you that Costco, Citi, and Visa are focused on making the transition to our new co-branded credit card as seamless as possible. We appreciate your patience as we continue to work out the details, and are confident that you will be pleased with the new Costco Visa credit card offering.

Will I need to apply for the new Costco Visa Card if I already have the Costco American Express Card?
It is unlikely that you will need to apply for the new Costco Visa Card. Costco will provide more information as we finalize the details of our new credit card program.
Will Costco accept all Visa cards, or just the Costco Visa Card?
Costco will accept all Visa cards in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Will the new Costco Visa Card offer a cash rebate like the Costco American Express Card?
Yes. The new Costco Visa Card will offer a very generous rebate package. Details will be provided in early 2016.
Will the new Costco Visa Card also serve as my Costco membership card?
Yes. Your Costco membership information will be placed on the back of the credit card along with your photo.

You'll be able to use any Visa, but they won't be sending you one
they sent a letter that seems to at least indicate the possibility of it.

Any idea if the age of your account will carry over to the new Amex?

That is really the only reason I'm interested in keeping an Amex. I could live just fine with Visa/MC/Discover.

if you believe this guy, the citi card will have the same rewards plan. Also, an automatic conversation if you are in good standing and want the new card. http://www.doctorofcredit.com/lea...d-rewards/

everything from mine carried over to the blue cash everyday, same "member since," same credit line (didn't reduce costco amex line, it was separate). i read that they had stopped carrying over the start date a while back, but they did for me, and that was around october.

whether or not that actually translates to account age i can't really say for certain, but my card says member since 10 just like my costco amex.
