I tried to order, but Newegg stopped me with a "Are you a robot" page that had no way to proceed. I sent an email, and hope they fix the problem. Until then...

I believe 3.5" sata drives. Many people using WD purple drives in these.

I bought this system the last time was this price. I paired it with the WD Purple 2TB surveillance hard drive, $68 at Fry's. So far, i like it just fine.

The images quality is plenty nice and fine for what I need. Navigating the NVR takes some getting used to and the nvr power supply fan is quite loud. I have yet to set up remote viewing from outside my network or use email alert. The Android app seems to work well.

I have an issue with one camera where the image is very grainy. I need to invest some more time into looking into the camera's internal setting before i determine if it needs to be returned.

At this price, I am seriously considering another buy to complete the 8 cameras. I could save the new NVR for a rainy day or sell it and end up paying a fraction of retail price for the 4 extra cameras.

I do recommend this system and think you would be hard pressed to find a better quality poe system that is plug and play. The system can be as simple as you want or much more involved for the tech types. (195 page pdf for nvr and 157 pages for the camera). Lastly, I also opted for the 3 year replacement warranty for $35 (3 for price of 2 deal) just in case.

Note LaView utilizes Chinese (native) IP/Internet streaming that is very "temperamental."

You had no idea what you read. The comment is about being able to watch the video remotely (via web streaming), not that the cameras have fault...

I am interested in buying this, but I never knew of or heard of Chinese IP streaming. Can you elaborate on what that means and how it works with the US version of IP. Will it work in my house? Will everything be in Chinese? I had a Zmoto system and my friend has a Lorex. Do they use US IP?

Please help.

Thank you
