FYI... No 10% on return amount amazon gift card this year with turbo tax. However, HR block is offering the 10% amazon gift card . Might be time for the switch. Any one have experience with both? I was reading that hr block can import turbo tax previous year filling info.

Are you saying that Turbo Tax would offer 10% of your total return amount as a gift card in the past? First time looking for tax software deals and that just seems too good to be true...nod

Also does Amazon usually have the lowest prices on TT? Is this a good price or wait?

I switched from TurboTax to H&R a year or two ago and had no problems importing the previous year's return. I found both programs to be pretty evenly matched (I'd consider my taxes to be of a medium complexity). As long as I can continue getting a better price on H&R I'll probably stick with them.

I think whatever portion of your return you opted to receive as an Amazon gift card, you'd get 10% bonus on the gift card.

I've used all 3 big tax packages and for fairly uncomplicated returns I really see no difference as far as usability or results. Price is the biggest differentiator. And HR Block is charging quite a bit for state returns. If you dont need the Amazon deal, I'd say TaxAct is the best deal.

Yeah. 10% back on the portion you opted for amazon gift card. Last year I put the full $4000 as amazon gift card, which gave me $4400 total.

Is this only for the PC version of turbotax or is it possible to buy the web version of turbotax via Amazon? The reason I ask is that I tried the PC version of TT last year and found that it doesn't import tax info from the online Turbotax! Amazing that turbotax desktop doesn't do this properly.

Amazon only sells the desktop version. In fact, I think for the web version you have to get it from TurboTax directly (since you are paying more for a service rather than software).

I've entered my tax info in both programs for a long time now just to make sure the numbers are right. They are both comparable programs. But since Intuit always try to pull a fast one on its customers (they've done sneaky things at least twice now and also lobby against simplified taxes), I only ever pay and file using H&R.

I got Premier for $30 last year. Probably won't be able to replicate this deal though.
