Good thing this is the EXACT same product as the 5-year old POS you have.

Beware of that display. 220nits is pretty crap for anything but indoor use with good/dark lighting.

It's a big drop down in quality from the 1080p display on the previous model. Take a look at Notebook review's community for more details.

That said, this IS a really great deal. Skylake/970M with dell warranty and user-upgradability for RAM and storage for $1200.

Alienware laptops are like that only. But they comensate it by offering very good cooling solution and great build quality, almost tank like. They are basically Desktop replacement.

I have this laptop and I love it.

The screen is a step down from the previous model but it is not bad at all.

why b/c its 220 nits from 300? n/m found the answer.

I got the r2 2015. It came with a few problems, I had dell tech showed up at my doorstep to change out the entire board for a problem with overheating.
Mine hit 91'C, so beware. Any gaming laptop have heat issues, I took care of mine when I had the tech put in better cooling paste.

My 5.2lb 960m is annoying heavy to carry around. This is basically a desktop you won't like carrying around 7lbs.
