Still only available for select devices!

Is your device ready for Project Fi?

Only the following devices are supported: Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, and Nexus 6. Additionally, only the North America models of those devices will work: LGH790, H1511, and XT1103, respectively.
If your phone is on Sprint, we recommend first deactivating your service (unless you're transferring your number to us). You can wait to do this until you activate service on Project Fi.

What happens to my Google Voice number?

If you want to keep using Google Voice

If you want to continue to use Google Voice with your current Google Voice number, you have a couple options:
•Sign up for Project Fi with a Google Account that’s not linked to your Google Voice.
•Transfer your Google Voice number to a different Google Account (as long as it doesn’t already have a Google Voice number) before you sign up for Project Fi. There’s no cost to transfer between Google Accounts.

If you use one of these options, you can use the Google Voice app on your Project Fi phone with your original Google Voice number.

Note: You won’t be able to forward a Google Voice number to a Project Fi number or forward a Project Fi number to a Google Voice number.
---
You can sign into Google Hangouts on another device (FreedomPop Tablet, RingPlus iPhone, Windows laptop, etc) and be able to make/receive calls and texts on those devices using your same number even if your Google Fi phone is unavailable (turned off, no signal, or lost). Upon installing Hangouts your call log, text history and contacts are automatically synced as the information exists 'in the cloud'.

I got the invite but I already got my V10 and don't plan going nexus again until they at least add expandable memory or removable battery.

It is decent, but nothing compared to a lot of the tmobile offerings on plan price.

Eh. Not really comparable. Ringplus is good for backup. Couldn't stand it as primary.

But fi is also not for everybody.

Waiting for Fi when LG produces the next Nexus. Supposedly it will not be any version of G4 or V10. Those are amazing phones. Don't know how you can improve on them. We'll see.

FYI - those invites have been pretty much instantaneous for a while so not a hot deal.
Fi is also way too expensive if you ask me.
For an internet company it is really ironic that Fi is the best plan if you DON'T want to use the internet or use little data ... if you do want to partake in google's products and offerings, do NOT use Google Fi.

I actually got Fi because I'm constantly surrounded by WiFi so I only need it when I'm out of town.

That kind of proves my point ...
And in your case there may even be better alternatives for less.

I'm still paying less than what I was paying with sprint so I'm OK with that.

No thanks. Got an invite while back. Have Samsung note 5. Reviews indicate services less than satisfactory!

Fi is way too expensive.

The base rate plus tax will run most people $22-27 and if you just use 500mb that's $27-32. If you use more data some months and less data in other months, your yearly average may be the same price as a plan from Cricket, Boost, or MetroPCS. Sure, you get international access and Wifi calling, but I'd rather have better domestic service. Fi also has tons of problems with SMS, MMS, calling, network switching, two-factor authenticatino, email to sms gateways.
