Reformat used iphone 4s

house kitten 6,899 December 29, 2015 at 10:57 AM
My niece gave me her old iphone and did not wipe her contacts, email etc. I have no need for this information and need to delete it. When I got to settings-reset-erase all it will not delete with out her password. Is it possible to reset this without password. I need to reformat for my sister to use on page plus.

1. Connect a USB cable to your Windows computer or Mac, but do not connect it to your iPhone.
2. Turn off your iPhone by pressing and hold the Home and Power button.
3. When the iPhone is off, hold down the Home button and connect iPhone to the other end of the USB cable, which should still be attached to your computer. This will force iPhone to turn on.
4. Continue to hold the Home button until an alert message in iTunes appears saying that your iPhone is detected in recovery mode like below:

5. Click "OK". From iTunes, click "Summary" tab and click on the "Restore" button within iTunes.

Apple lawsuit [bing.com]
There's a simple fix to that lawsuit Apple unfortunately ins't likely to implement: Allow people who are still using older devices to downgrade to a previous software version eg. 8.4.1

My mom has an ipad mini on 8.4.1 and I'm kind of torn on upgrading to 9.2 since I know I can't bring it back to 8.4.1

I would suggest that you don't do it. My iPhone 4s is so slow now all I use it for is making phone calls. Everything else is ruined.
