I've noticed that currently flights from PHL to Orlando are running approximately $120 depending on your departure and return in January. I am specifically looking at American as I have 4 $100 vouchers with them.

Is it likely that if I wait until October to book a flight in Nov that I would have similar prices or are these prices specific to January? I've never booked airline separate from my hotel, I've always used packages.

Leaving out of PHL and going to Orlando, Miami or even FLL is a pretty popular inclusion for most sales from Spirit, Southwest, Frontier and others. However, l'm not too sure about American, but based on the sales that I have seen from this route from others, I can only imagine that there should be some significant sales for them as well. make sure that you are registered with their website and of course have your deal alerts set for SD. Fly.com is a popular place to evaluate calendars for certain airlines

So are you saying that sales like this aren't only limited to this time of year?

It's not only limited to this time of the year. Sales will always pop up during the year because of decrease in fuel pricing, supply and demand, etc. You are traveling in November which is considered "offseason". You should be able to get some good deals. Next, year for travel in November, you will have ample opportunity starting in September to find deals for November. The two best things you can do is visit http://www.faredetective.com/farehistory to get a feel for what the lowest prices were like last year during the time you plan on traveling this year in the fall. It wont be accurate due fuel prices, events, supply and demand which tend to vary year to year. but it does give you a nice trend of what to expect. The 2nd best thing, if possible, is to be as flexible as possible with the days and weeks in November. Sometimes just changing the day of departure/arrival by one day will be a drastic difference in the sale price.

Thank you, I was looking for something like this website. It looks like as long as fuel prices stay low I might be able to get a steal in Nov on airfare.

Sign up for their frequent flyer program. It's free to sign up and get emails from sales. Also sign up for fare alerts from kayak.com airfarewatchdog.com tripadvisor.com and any of the other fare alert or travel websites. You don't have to round trip on the same airline, either. You could fly into Orlando and out of Melbourne. We did that one trip by looking at fares and nearby airports at matrix.itasoftware.com. You can't buy at that site but it will open some doors for you. Also good to know is that you can often get free rental car drop off at a different airport in FL but do check if you go that route to make sure there are no drop off fees.

S September is another time flights to Orlando tend to be cheap. I use the skyscanner app. You can check your flight pricing for the entire year.
