Not deal related, just a heads up for AT&T customers...

For those with grandfather old family plans, seems like 2-year contract is over for AT&T customers...

If you enter into a new 2 year contract before 01/08/16 you will have to pay ETF, The new contracts/renewals clearly include the $5 data increase fee.

To keep the terms of your old contract (unlimited data users) you will be on a month to month basis after your contract expires and you will have to pay full price for any future phone

woah woah. first the $5 increase on grandfathered unlimited plans, and now officially ending 2-year contracts. I guess it's inevitable with the current trends.

I wonder if it's time to sell my new phones I just got, end contract without ETF penalty, and buy myself a a Nexus 6P for Google Fi... Wish they would have announced this 2 months ago.

So come iPhone 7 time I'll have to pay full price and not a $200 amount with a 2 year contract? That correct?

Hmm, should I get a new phone on contract while I can or just get a 6P and call it a day...!?

interesting decision by ATT. we never used our grandfathered data more than 1 gb for my wife and I. we're paying slightly more under the ATT plan than under a similar non unlimited Tmobile plan. Have always wanted to go to Tmobile since they started their uncannier initiative but could never really get the energy to go. Will definitely jump over the Tmo to try out their services. I would bet there are a lot people in a similar situation. Probably only a small percentage of their user base at this point, so they probably don't care. I don't really understand their motivation behind this decision. O well. We don't get the best coverage from ATT anyway.

Pay full price over 24 months is the same as the contract price isn't it? You just have lower activation fee and all

why? It's not like it's going to end up cheaper (most likely)

they aren't really subsidizing.they were just hiding the price of the phone in the 2 year contract monthly fees.

Why not? If you have unlimited data there is no discount when your two years are up.
