Need Laptop deal for School

firebird4321 32 14 January 3, 2016 at 10:43 PM More Amazon Deals
Hello -

I am looking for a good laptop for school that will last me 4-5 years (hopefully)

This would be pretty much perfect for me but I really am hoping not to have to shell out this kind of cash:

http://www.amazon.com/ThinkPad-19...+1080+16gb

These are the specs I am hoping for (but not required):

an SSD (hopefully 500gb)
1080p display
12gb of memory or more
I dont really care about monitor size - but hoping for 15.6+
Windows 7 (I realize that most laptops are window 10 these days so this is just a wish)

I am looking to spend in the 700-800 range but would spend 1k or so if it got me exactly what I wanted and was a good deal

I need it for school work, and i also mess around with music production and play games here and there but i normally do that on my desktop

I have been looking at Costco as they offer such a great warranty (3 years with AmEX card) and return policy.. but would be open to another retailer.

1k is alot of money and then getting an additional warranty on top of it would be even more..

Thank you so much in advance!! I am just starting full time school to retrain in a different field and due to me switching my work hours to part time I have a limited amount of money I have socked away to cover the difference as I go through school so it's important to me to get something that will last and is a decent deal.

TL;DR:

I want something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/ThinkPad-19...+1080+16gb

but dont want to spent that much money. THANK YOU!!

**edit: just to be clear , i am willing to give on any of these features, if a computer has a great deal but doesnt include an ssd and has a relatively fast regular hdd that is fine for instance.. thanks

Stubled upon this while searcing for ssd's. Lenovo knows how to put thier parts together. You can probably even get a steam on Lenovo's actual website. Otherwise, dell has so many configurations of thier inspirons. Browse thier website too.

Thanks for your input! That looks like a nice deal. I was hoping for 16gb memory - do you think that 16b will become a "must-have" spec within the next 4-5 years?

I am trying to make this system last through school

Update to my situation,

I just realized I have about 500 dollars in Amazon gift cards that I hadnt thought about , so I want to purchase this on Amazon. This considered I'd also like to get something that is possible to game on as well.

Thanks everyone in advance. Reps to anyone that can help.

damn this forum is really dead compared to how it used to be. I took my inquiry to Reddit as well on SuggestALaptop subreddit to hopefully get some more feedback - thing is I know most Redditors don't know a truly slick deal when they see one Frown
