Windows 7 desktop won't detect my Galaxy Note 5

EpicBob 1,934 101 January 5, 2016 at 01:25 AM
It used to work, but today it will no longer detect my Note 5. I uninstalled all software associated with the phone on my PC then plugged my USB into the PC again and the driver wouldn't reinstall. Then I downloaded it from Samsung and it finally started detecting my phone again. Since then, it worked a few more times, but during the most recent times I've connected my phone to the PC it has stopped detecting it again. Does anyone have ideas on how to solve this? There's one other issue with my phone: it does not do fast charge every time I plug it in.

I would focus on solving the fast charge, that could be a bad charger, or wire, or possibly the port on the phone is bad. If your using the same wire it could be related.

Have you tried another computer?

bad cable? I have an N5 and S4's - they seem to be touchy with cables - like the micro USB end that plugs into the phone "wears out" even though the cable still works for other devices. As a result I wind up getting new charging cables every 6 months or so.

Have you tried changing the connection type on the note? Are you looking to just pull files off it or use Kies?

I haven't tried another computer. If that doesn't help, I may go in and ask for a new charger or cable.

Maybe it is the cable. I'll go in and see if they'll give me a new charger or cable since it's only been used a couple months.

Samsung might give you a new charger, the carrier store won't have the OEM stuff and probably won't give you anything. do you not have another around that you can test with?
