jugger18 2 10 January 5, 2016 at 08:59 AM
My current rig:

fx8350
8GB RAM
Evo 850 250GB SSD
2x Radeon HD7770 xfired
550w modular PSU (name brand just cant remember which off hand)
2x 1080p monitors

Looking to update my graphics card. Would like to play most current games at 1080p. Have $300 to spend. Would like to avoid updating the PSU if possible.

Looks like you are looking for a deal on a GTX 970. The R9 290/390 which you might get a better deal, but not with 550W.

Set an alert for a 970 and something will pop up eventually around $250 or full price with some good sweetener like a AAA game. Right now the best deal on Jet is $270 for a new ZOTAC. EVGA.com also sells B stock which can be a good deal. (Newegg has a card for $270.)

It might be a while until there are any fantastic deals. New cards aren't expected until late Q2/Q3.

Also, there's another 10-15% off with Android Pay.

Well I used one of the online calculators to look at my sytem power with the r9 390. I do come in OK with the 550. Decided to chance it. Got a great deal off of jet ~250. Figured with what I saved I could almost buy the upgraded PSU if worst case came to be.
