Damn, apparently Samsung's player will cost $400. Looks like I'll be waiting a year or two. The discs aren't quite as bad as I was expecting, though. I really want Interstellar.

If you sit 5 feet away from an 80" 4K TV, then I would be excited as it is super clear.

If you sit 10 feet away from an 80" 4K TV, then it is the exact same as a 1080p TV.

I still love how the general public buys 65" 4K TVs, yet 3D is out of the question, lol.

No point buying these unless you want the bluray immediately and intend to purchase Samsung's UHD bluray player due out in March for $399. Panasonic will also be coming out with a player later in the year.

I'll definitely be picking up a UHD player eventually, but only when they've dropped to a price of around $100-$150. Which could take a couple years.

I think it will be quicker. They want everyone to upgrade old movies to increase sales. I won't be on the 4K bandwagon for a while. Too old and cheap to keep up with these trends.

Why is 3D out of question ? Every single 4k tv I purchased this year had 3d build in. vizio is the only 4k tv that dont come with 3d both samsung and sony does.

The 3D it's built for Full-HD not for 4K, FYI.

Disappointed to the the digital copy is only HD. Vudu already has UHD digital copies of many of these. MGO has some as well. 4K BDs should come with UHD digital copies.

Once 4K Blu-ray movies start showing up, are we going to have to worry whether the movie was originally filmed in 4K or whether it was traditionally filmed and "upscaled" to 4K? I guess when Blues Brothers comes out in 4K Blu-ray, that will be the answer! Smilie

65in 4K HDR about 7 feet away and immediately saw the difference. that was from a 4K stream too so I can only imagine how a UHD blu ray will look.

thank you for your input though Smilie

What is your source? The box itself says Digital HD not Digital UHD. Do you know what provider these will redeem at? At this point, I do not see any UHD movies that are UV.

This would be great news and I would go ahead and preorder a few of these. Thanks.

Vudu has about 20 of them so far. no source but it's just common sense of they want people to even use UHD digital because theyre $30 each on there. also makes sense because DVD comes with SD, blu ray comes with HDX, and 4K blu ray should come with UHD.
