Need best Verizon deal

AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile suck here... weak data signal so battery drains fast.

Best Buy has some nice smartphones for $1 ... but they charge $40/mo per device on top of service plan.

e.g. 3 smartphone devices on 12GB plan.

$80mo unlimited talk/text 12gb shared data
$40mo device 1
$40mo device 2
$40mo device 3

$200mo for 3 lines with 12GB shared!

$4800/2yr

Verizon is

$80mo unlimited talk/text 12gb shared data
$20mo device 1 + 18.83mo device rental
$20mo device 2 + 18.83mo device rental
$20mo device 3 + 18.83mo device rental

$4715.76/2yr

$85 friggin dollars more with Best Buy, BUT THE PHONE IS $1!

What is with the stupid 2016 pricing structure of cell carriers?

I currently have 3 dumbphones for Verizon but it's showing $40 activation/port-in per line which is asinine...

I don't even need 1GB data with 3 dumbphones which is the smallest offering I'm seeing.

First off, unless you have some teenagers who are incapable of understanding the cost of streaming youtube videos over 4g all day long, then one does not need 12 GB of data. Turn off app updates not over wifi on the phones and you should be fine with 1-2 GB of data a person.

Secondly, buy good condition Verizon phones used off of swappa.com. It will be far cheaper than paying Verizon's gouge charges on their monthly plans.

Finally, (I know (because I am on it) Verizon has a $50 a month\1GB data, unlimited call and text plan. If you have 4 phones to hook up, one of their share plans for $10 extra a phone or whatever it is probably ends up being a better deal, but you will have to research that.

Thanks for the reply, $50/mo sounds good, $80/mo for 3 lines, but does that $10/mo line include smartphones? Are yours anyways?

Not sure on the extra lines as right now I just have one phone I am paying for and the others are charged to a business.

That said, I just found this on the Verizon site:

http://www.verizonwireless.com/la...izon-plan/

It looks like it may be even cheaper ($30) for one phone\1GB (I have to call them up) but they are now charging +20\each additional phone. You need to call them up and ask though because they usually do not advertise all their plans. Either way, unless you just have to have the latest smartphone, it is always cheaper going with a swappa sold used phone a revision or 2 behind like an S4 or S5. My 2 cents.

Check that...there is a $40 data access charge per line, so that $30 is really $70. Still better off with the $50 plan which they call Unlimited Talk & Text & 1 GB.

The deal with verizon's plans is such that if you're in-hoc,(under contract, owe money on a device, etc) they own you and your business, so they charge you significantly more than the phone is actually worth over the life of the plan. I would seriously consider grabbing some Like-new or new/refurb smartphones on ebay or swappa.com outright (The HTC One M7 or M8 is a pretty good value, or get an iphone 5, Samsung Galaxy s5, whatever floats your boat... do you NEED a brand new flagship phone?)

Your upfront cost goes up about $100-300 per line depending on phone choice, and your monthly cost is 20/line, plus your data plan choice, 12G is $80, though you might be able to get them to use the recent promo of an extra 2GB of data per line on an 8GB plan if you ask nicely.

That puts you at 120-140/mo for a total of
$1440-$1460 per year service
$300-900 in devices.

Boom. Screw Verizon whenever possible.
