anyone mind share the promo code? I look up on the email flyer received today, nowhere it has the code. the only instant promo code frys sent in email didn't work.

meantime, I have to cancel the $249 order though still in back order, lol.

------------------------

Never mind, found the promo code, order the back order. Funny I have a Netgear 104 from amazon on its way for $188 + tax.

How good is this? Frys page doesn't give much info. Went something to plug into wireless ac gigabit router mainly to share and stream videos. Will it transcode on the fly?

funny, just called frys to cancel the previous back ordered order of netgear 204 at $249, found out today's back order on $179 is over 179 orders in their database, might take couple months to deliver.

I surely won't count on it.

This model of netgear NAS (202 and 204) for 2 bay or 4 bay have more memory and faster cpu, so it can run plex for example at 720p, that's all.

NAS is generally at ridiculous high price, though most only look for the basic RAID feature, today's home NAS always come with loaded home server features, almost like a full feature computer, can stream video, send email, run from ftp to web server, php, blog all kind of things.

I mean who wants to host a blog from home? yet, if you want to a NAS, you have to pay for all these junks.

Do you think I'd be better off using an older spare core 2 duo p8400 laptop to serve and transcode. Then just getting some kind of cheaper basic enclosure?

placed online order for in store pickup. online total was $179.99 plus tax. When I picked it up the promo code price dropped off. It took some convincing via placing an order again to prove it really is $179.99. Quite the slick deal.
