Wow. A bit harsh don't you think? He calmly shared his experience. No "stay away...this device sucks" or "you're a fool if you buy this." Most reasonable people probably understood he was sharing his experience and not talking on everyone's behalf. Perhaps you should avoid future 99 cent caffeine pill deals here on SD and instead find a local deal for a relaxation massage.

I have the Obi100 with Google Voice for many years now. Love it, no issues at all. Highly recommended.

there's a half a second delay with goog voice but its better than nothing. i use goog voice number instead of my cell or ooma. easier to block unwanted callers. hope it stays indefinitely.

I don't have any delay. My DSL speed is 40 Mpbs down and 20 up. Your experience will vary depending on speeds I guess.

So you wake up every day and set out to speak for the whole world? Might occur to you it's an issue all by your lonesome...

Got it for $29.99 during the Thanksgiving deal. So far loving it. Ditched Ooma. Why pay even $4 taxes when I can have it all free Smilie

How much to port your number over? I am really happy with ooma, but maybe it's worth it if it's equivalent quality and reliability.

I have had the Obi202 for 3 years and the Obi100 for a year before that. I have it hooked up to a DECT 4.0 cordless phone system with 4 extensions and two google voice accounts. It's nice to be able to grab a phone anywhere in the house. Before I hooked my phone system in via bluetooth to a cell phone which was annoying at times or paid for VOIP. Too many people are paying for comcast triple play when they can save money this way.

My parents were paying $45 a month to Cox for 2 land lines (Cordless phone system and a fax line) and I was able to get them to switch over to using the Obi202. They still dont understand how they don't have to pay a monthly fee for it, and they miss the feature that throws up caller ID onto your TV, but they love being able to text and take calls from their tablets Smilie

The only annoying part was the setup, but I literally have not had to touch the device since. You can't utilize a secondary Google Voice number, so I had to port one of the numbers a second time into a new account.

I'm assuming the alarm system will work since they are just using tones, but I don't have one myself so I can't say. Old school fax machines will still work.
