It's a group of 14 girls going to Cancun for April 15 - 19 on a budget. Most of us have not been to Cancun before nor do we speak Spanish, and the 1-2 who have been stayed at all-inclusive resorts. All-inclusive would have been ideal, but it was hard to find a resort that would accommodate all of us for meals. We're staying at a beachfront villa in the hotel zone by Bsea Cancun Plaza Hotel.

We're all flying separately, but some of us might end up on the same flight. Not everyone has booked yet.

We have to plan everything including transportation, excursions, restaurants, and nightlife. We're trying to do a spa day, excursions, relax on the beach, and go out to party at night.

This is what we have so far on the itinerary:

- Cuncrawl [cuncrawl.com]
- Fotographer 60-minute photo shoot [flytographer.com]
- Entertainment Plus airport round-trip transportation [entertainment-plus.net]

- Girls are voting on the following excursions to see who wants to do what (but if you know other excursions to add, please share!):

- Swim with Dolphins + Extreme Canopy Adventures [dolphinaris.com]
- Catamaran Tour [sambacatamaranes.com]
- Chichen Itza Tour + Dolphin Encounter or Catamaran Sail [viator.com]
- Experiencias Xcaret [xcaretexperiencias.com]
- Underwater Museum [com.mx]
- Underwater Jetski [expedia.com]
- Shark Encounter [entertainment-plus.net]
- Paradise Subsee [com.mx]

I've already done some preliminary research on tips for Cancun, but if you have any personal insights, recommendations, or tips, please share by all means! We're open to anything but just want to be safe and have a stress-free time as much as possible. Any recommended spas for a group our size in the hotel zone? Thanks in advance!!

To me staying at an all inclusive is the way to go especially since most of the resorts offer it. Now if you girls have money to burn then go for it. I usually go to Cancun several times a year this year we are doing Beach Palace. It offers the free roundtrip transfer from the airport and you also get 1500.00 in resort credit that can be used towards excursions

Now as far as hiring a photographer, I'm pretty sure someone has a nice camera in your group that you all can take turns taking pictures of each other or better yet get someone to take pictures of your party

Not sure where you're flying in from but there are several airlines that have direct roundtrip flights to Cancun .

Lastly if no one in your group has the time to do some research then you should get with a travel agent . That person should be able to take care of most if not all of what you're looking for. Enjoy

Depending on how many days you're staying and how many days you will be doing excursions, you are probably better off doing a non-all-inclusive resort because most excursions can include small meals and you would not be using the benefits of an all inclusive resort being gone most of the day. But what days were you planning on going for this trip? How long is the stay? How many people from each city is everyone coming from?

On a budget? I looked at what you have on the agenda already. If you are not renting a car, the airport transportation is a good idea. We had cab drivers practically crawling all over us when we exited the terminal. Hopefully, you can coordinate flights to get the best bang for your buck.

MMitchell29 has a good idea about a photographer. You could buy a nice camera for the amount it will cost.

Your drinking party charges extra for transportation. I'd figure how much each person normally drinks. At $80, that comes out to $20/drink if you have 4 drinks!!! And who is this party guide that is with you all night to make sure you have fun? Does he/she speak English and is he/she any fun? Wouldn't it make more sense to go out on your own -- 14 of you should feel safe enough without the company of a stranger. You could check on transportation and ssee if you'd save money in the long run.

Chichen Itza & Xcaret are experiences you can't have at home. I'd skip the Dolphin Encounter and go to Isla Mujeres and/or Cozumel snorkeling. Walking 5th avenue in Playa del Carmen is fun. The ferry to Cozumel leaves from there and you can ride a bus from Cancun.

Day trip by high speed ferry to Isla Mujeres is nice, just beware the OPPRESSIVE hucksters in town trying to get you into their shops to buy stuff. Rent scooters for the day to get around the island.

Do the evening Pirate Ship adventure...it's a blast.

All-inclusive would have been nice (and Beach Palace was my #1 choice), but they decided to go the Airbnb route. We'll probably hire someone to take pictures of us. We're flying from Chicago, but most of us will probably book Southwest. Yeah, I'm thinking we need to get some type of guide or agent to help us. Thanks for your input!

We're staying 5 days, so Friday, April 15 - Tuesday, April 19. It's now 15 girls, and I think most of us are coming from Chicago with a few from Dallas and New York. I did see the Xport excursion had meals included, so we'll probably have to find more of those types.

That's a good point on the drinks! I didn't even consider how much one would drink. I'll talk to the girls. It also turns out that they want to rent a van and venture into the local spots. I don't know how safe that would be considering none of us can really read or speak Spanish fluently....

Thanks so much for your input!

You can easily get by without being fluent in Spanish anywhere on the Mayan Riviera. I can read simple signs and greet people and have a few simple phrases and know how to say please and thank you. I did end up with a strange bowl in front of me at an Acapulco restaurant and had a friend order a soap sandwich instead of ham -- the waiter got a good laugh out of that. Most people who understand or speak English are happy to have someone to practice on. Be careful of anyone who is way too helpful, stay together or in groups as much as possible, and don't do anything stupid -- good advice for any city whether at home or abroad.

Sounds like you'd enjoy Xplor Park Cancun...http://www.xplor.travel/

We went on spring break on year and had a great time. They offer ziplining, underground cave swimming, ATV rides through the forest, it's great. If I remember correctly, they pick you up from the hotel if it's on the strip as well.
