I really like Humble. I would never buy from Steam after the multiple hacks and screw-ups they had in the past. Worst customer service ever too. I would highly suggest everybody on Slick Deals do the same and stop supporting Steam one of the worst companies out there as well. All the games activate on the Steam client anyway. Just buy it from another authorized retailer and give them your money instead of Steam.

I would be more worried about giving Double-Fine any money what-so-ever after the BS they pulled with Spacebase & Broken Age.

Steam only gets a cut (~30%) for games sold directly on their storefront. They get no money from the sale of keys on other storefronts.

I wouldn't be surprised if what you say is true. I personally haven't been following Double Fine much since their games don't attract my attention. But I'm a strong believer in voting with your wallet. And nobody on slick deals should ever give their money to Steam if they actually care for the future of PC gaming. Steam has screwed up MANY times in the past with their lack of customer service and their failure of a network infrastructure. They haven't even bothered changing their ways because they know people will still buy from them. But what people don't realize (at least most) is that outlets such as Amazon/GMG/Humble all sell Steam keys which activate on Steam anyway. Steam makes zero money off these sales and you support an outlet that you actually like.

I really like Steam as a software client. But Valve the company is probably just as bad, if not worse than the likes of EA and Ubisoft. People need to vote with their wallet so Valve will be forced to change their ways and not let the PC Gaming scene suffer.

lotta butthurt in here today.

i've had nothing but good experiences with Steam. easy to avoid games with unruly DRM, perhaps the BEST rating system (only people who own the game can rate), and a return policy as of last year. no, they don't have the best prices anymore and it's been a long time since they have, but in no way are they comparable to EA or ubisoft.

The Steam client is amazing and nothing but praises. But Valve as a company has a long way to go in terms of customer service and beefing up their support and infrastucture. If you think they're not on the same page as EA/Ubi, then you're obviously delusional.

One day you'll have an issue with your account and get locked out. And Steam will take their sweet little time trying to help you reactivate it and support you. Then you'll feel like a fool giving them all your money LMAO

Moral of the story. Don't ever buy from Steam. There are ton of other places such as Amazon/Humble/GMG that has way better prices and want to earn your money.

Lol, most of the games that humble and amazon sell are steam links, so while you may hurt their revenue stream, but you still have to count on steam. Steam gets my direct business when they have the best price.

As far as you being delusional, I cant say, but you do seem butthurt, and your singular bad experience is not special. As the other user mentioned, if there is a huge number of supporters for steam, they do minimize your hurt feelings effecting others, sorry.

Sure as hell better than EAthough. EA s straight up unethical. They have the audacity to charge a monthly subscription fee just to play their game online after already purchasing the game and paying xbox/psn subscription.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. I never said I hated the Steam client or to never use it. As a matter of fact I encourage everybody to use the client as it's a wonderful tool. What I don't encourage is to buy any games directly from Steam because of how failure of a company they are. They bring in billions of dollars yet they can't support their customers with a proper support system? How many times has Steam gone offline during the middle of peak hours? How many times has Steam been hacked and personal info leaked? How many times do they brush off customer service issues as just a niche group of people? I honestly lost count. Just google and you'll see endless information on this topic.

You may think it's not a problem now. But you'll feel like an absolute fool if you ever run into account issues in the future and Steam refuses to help you because of their shoddy support. The hundreds of dollars you paid them to buy games is being put to good use ain't it?
