Hi everybody,
I am living in Germany and planning to travel with my wife and 9 month old child to Florida in March and April.
We would like to stay 4 or 5 weeks somewhere around Miami or Fort Myers on the Beach. A pool would be nice.
We need one bedroom in a holiday home, motel, hotel, house boat or anything else.
Our budget is max. 50 USD per night, means 1500 USD per month.
Is there a chance to find such an accommodation anywhere?

So far I tried searching on home-away.com, trivago, airbnb, priceline, googled for short term rentals, looked on craigslist etc.

Are there any Insider tips?

Try vrbo.com or look on Craigslist for the cities you want to rent in. You may get lucky with a monthly rental, but something on the beach at that price will be difficult. It may be easier to find something in your budget further inland and drive to the beach.

Spring break for colleges is mid-March and most New England grade schools have an April break -- so there is some heavy competition for the Florida beaches at the time of year you plan to go.

Very tough to find anything in S. Florida at $50/night, even in high-summer (off-season).
Keep looking on Air-B&B

Guten Tag. As thumper1 mentioned, you will not find any beachfront property for 50 USD a night.

In addition, Fort Myers may be difficult to find extended lodging in March as several American Baseball teams do their spring training there in March and sports fans take up all the hotels.

It is a little further north, but might I recommend looking at the Tampa / St Petersburg / Clearwater area? Probably more properties from which to choose and less expensive than Fort Myers and much less expensive than Miami area

If you search on AirBnB, email any and all potential persons and ask what kind of discount they would give for 4 week stay. I've had good luck doing this, but keep in mind you are asking in a popular area.

You can also look at Extended Stay properties - don't know if these are prevalent in Germany, but these are mostly for business travelers staying on-site for longer periods - they usually are very sparse and not fancy, but may come closer to your budget. Here are two possible locations - I have not used them, but you can research online for reviews

Please remember that none of these locations will be beach-front, but your best bet to stay close to budget.

This sounds like an exciting trip and I hope things work out for you. Please let us know if we can help further.
