Not even close! As a small car dealer in Minnesota, it is always tough finding a good booster pack and the JNC660 is the only one I recommend so far.

We used these at the bmw dealership and they're great. They're a few years old now but they're extremely reliable. Charge very quickly and easily portable albeit a bit on the heavy side but nothing too drastic.

This is the California compliant unit. Discombobulated posted this deal earlier with a couple other non-Democrat feel good versions

got one last year deal at same price. best unit you can find, from a car to a suv and even powerful enough for small trucks. this is the best one out there.

Great device! Holds a charge for a very long time, possible for a year. I bought this back in Sept during AWD deals with extra 10% off for $85.89. This thing hovers around $130 year round.

If you qualify, stack with the Amazon Gift Card $10 credit for $50 giftcard purchase.

I got some of older jump-starters from Sears, any idea on how to check if they are still good without having to wait for a 'rainy day'?

Yeah, unplug your ground cable from the battery. Then hook up to the jumper to see if your car turns.

I have a low-end Clore at my feet here and cannot understand the love for this company. It's a Jump N Carry 300XL, I bought two units, and both failed utterly within a year.

The design is so deeply flawed and in so many ways; for example, there's no off switch, so the two clamps are always live.

I had a PowerStation PSX2, the earlier Costco model, for more than three years before it died last week from a jammed switch.

But unless Clore has taken some serious steps to distance their other models from this steaming diarrhea soup, I wouldn't spend a penny on them.

And if they did improve their engineering? They still owe me for two defective units.

EDIT: I am aware that their other units have an off switch. This is not a feature that should inspire pride; a lack of an off switch demonstrates stupidity.

Like anything, you have the entry-level and the good one. I can't say I'd recommend everything from this company, but the jnc660 delivers.
