Has great features that comes as a heavyweight model (literally)... this printer is 70 Lbs (80Lbs shipped) thought dimensions are not too big (20"x20X17")
(compared to Brother MFC9340 or Canon MF8280Cw at 50 Lbs, other less feature models C1765nfw or E522w at 40 Lbs , and the basic non-MFC model like C1760nw at 23 Lbs ).
Perhaps a consideration for home use.

there are no details on the dell site about this printer but usually the CDW stands for Color, Duplex, Wireless

looks like it's single pass duplex. what the heck does that mean? do we have to manually flip it and is that for scanning or printing?

According to this YouTube video [youtube.com], it's the good kind. I think it means it actually scans both sides of the page at once, rather than having to "flip" each page.

Note: the video is not of this model. It's just to explain what single-pass is. Hint: it is faster and doesn't need to "reverse" each page. I think this would also make it much less likely to "jam."

Also the Dell description says "single-pass dual-head 50 sheet." The dual-head I believe confirms it does the scanning of both sides. Which is very cool. I didn't even know they had scanners like this!

Have it - love it. I heard complaints about no duplex and slow printing, but man I love mine so far!

Nevermind! Mine is a E525W

I purchased this printer in Dec 2015. This is probably the best Laser printer value out there at this price - PC Mag seems to agree.
This has all the functionality for a small business or a power home user. Some of my favorites are: very fast auto Duplex printing, NFC capability, Superb cloud support, scan a full report in a lot of formats into a USB drive or into the cloud. I still have HP Laserjet printer but this one is million times better in every way possible.

BTW, this thing is huge and heavy - designed for business - you can install an additional 500 or so page capacity tray. Print quality is more than adequate for business documents - for both color and B/W printing. I don't do print photos at home anyway.

Since this model has just been released (in last Q in 2015 I guess) along with 2 other similar models, I don't know of any 3rd party toner yet and that makes me a little worried.

Between the overview tab and the tech spec tab it claims to be duplex printing and duplex scanning. Seems comparable to the Brother MFC-9340CDW, which rarely drops below $300. The only issue I see with this Dell is finding toner at a reasonable cost.

Looks like "high-yield" (rated 2500 page) toner from Dell is $106. per color (i.e. x3). And $70 for the black. One nice thing is if you're not printing much (or any) color, you won't need a color cartridge for a long time. The ones it comes with are rated for 1200 pages.

So $400 for a full high-yield toner set. That's not uncommon for color laser toners from the manufacturer. (and the only reason I don't have color laser printer yet!). This model seems like an excellent deal if you are looking for a heavy-duty (and heavy) home or small office printer.

Agreed. Both AUTO duplex printing and scanning are very fast.
Also, sleep power usage is very low - only 3W - I measured. I have owned many different types of MFPs and regular printers - never been happier:-)

BTW, I talked to a well known 3rd party toner company and they do not have any definite release date for this model - just that it takes sometimes a year to come up with toners for a new model.

Does anyone know if you can use multiple promotional gift cards. It sounds like you can't, but then it says you can't consolidate a promotional gift card with a gift card. What if I have 2 promotional gift cards?
