Looking for a beach location March or April. Looked at a lot of place in Cancun. Would really like something beach warm water and less people. It is for a honeymoon and not interested in parties.

Willing to go off the beaten path but need acceptable hotel room as most of the time will be in bed and beach side hammocks. hug

If your focus is Cancun -- how about Isla Mujeres? Just a short ferry ride away. I would try for a vacation rental over a hotel room -- you'll have a fridge to keep the bubbly chilled. Cozumel is a bus/taxi to Playa del Carmen and then a ferry ride across. Great snorkeling.

I like the sound of that. What vacation rentals have you tried?

I have used VRBO.com at least a half dozen times. We stayed in 2 places in Costa Rica that were wonderful -- one near Lake Arenal, the volcano, hanging bridges, and hot springs -- and another near Dominical, near the surfing beaches. If surfing interests you, there's a surf camp there -- Green Iguana -- with pick up and drop off to airport -- but you would have to stay there. http://www.greeniguanasurfcamp.co...p_home.htm We stayed in another in Nassau in the Bahamas with our own private pool -- owner has apartment on site, but also rents out an apartment and a 3 BR house.

I have not stayed in a vacation rental in Cancun. I have stayed at a timeshare (One of the Mayan resorts) on the Riviera Maya and that was pretty nice.

We used VRBO to stay on Cayman Islands for a week in a condo. It was awesome, great food, beaches, people and they speak English if that matters. Was about $2100 for two people for everything including food.

Caymans are beautiful. Great beaches. Laid back and not as much to do as Mayan Riviera, but good snorkeling there, too. You can snorkel off Seven Mile Beach because it's near a lot of resorts and right off shore. Stingray City is a fun snorkel trip if you want to get up close to stingrays.

From SkyScanner.com:
Direct flights to Cayman Islands from the United States can be booked with Delta, American Airlines, US Airways, United, and JetBlue. Air Canada and British Airways also offer nonstop flights to the territory. Don't know where you are flying from -- so can't give a better answer. We flew USAir -- which is now American Airlines.

My fiance and I just booked our honeymoon and we found great deals in Riviera Maya, Mexico (flies into Cancun), Negril, Jamaica and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We utlimately went with Riviera Maya as we were able to find direct flights, a 4 star resort with extras for under the other locations, but they were all very close in price.

That sounds great. Sadly none of the resorts have reward points at category 5

I would do the Hard Rock in Cancun. Place is nice, clean, food is pretty good and you get room service 24/7 and on the beach. It was very relaxing and they'll take you to shitty clubs in Cancun via bus. You could also save some cash and stay somewhere a little down market and you'll still have a great time if you get a beach hotel. You could probably also do Cozumel.
