Anyone make any money blogging? Not necessarily a living, just a penny would count. Anyone care to share their experiences failing making money blogging?

Lots and lots of blogs out there about blogging. Never really actually met/chatted with anyone I was aware of them making any money blogging.

I want to give blogging a serious try to make some money. I'm going to be super super excited when I make my first penny blogging (seriously!)

Have registered multiple Domain names in the past and hosted them on 3Owl.com which is FREE. But seems to crap out after a while when I try to update WordPress. & I didn't know how to back up what I'd written - databases vs. something something.

In the past I have bought names cheap like 99 cents from GoDaddy and 1&1. This time I spent $12 at Google to register. Just feel spending little money is worth it if I'm going to be serious about generating some money blogging. I was thinking about going with HostGator but 3 year contract was like $250 or something. & if I hire someone to get me going in the right direction they might have experience using something else.

Considering paying someone to get me going in the right direction. I don't want to be a wordpress/website expert. I want to work on content development. My bro in law works in the IT area and uses BlueHost. He's willing to help me out but my bro in law and I have a good relationship and would like to keep it that way. So probably use him if I get in a real pinch, but rather use someone else up front.

Any tips?

Any tips to get the most bang for the buck?

Any tips on how to generate the most bucks?

Any Advice appreciated. TIA!

You can make money from Google ad clicks, conversion or sponsorship. First one is easy. If all else fails, you can click on the ads yourself to cover domain and hosting fees. Just be smart about it and don't get caught. Second one is unlikely. Someone not only has to click on the ad, he also has to buy something through your link. This, and the third, is how Slickdeals makes money. 0.01% of 10 million visitors is something, but 0.01% of 100 visitors earns you next to nothing. Third is just as difficult. Your blog needs a lot of visitors, or at least desirable ones. Once you achieve that, you have to find and convince businesses to pay you to advertise on your blog. Unless your blog has gotten media coverage, businesses rarely come knocking.

Many people use an ad blocker these days. Even if they don't, how often do they click on ads? And if they see something they like from an ad, do they then find a cashback site to buy from and get the cashback themselves or simply click on your ad so you can get the cashback?

But don't be discouraged. Blogging can be fun and it doesn't cost you much to give it a go.

you need alot of content. rewrite content over and over again. change it up. start another side blog that links back to it. use similar content on both. always try to tie your content back to a product. i used XXX for my baking, it can be found on amazon here. etc.

yes you can earn by blogging not only some count , you can earn for live by blogging ,

But the thing is that you would share your ideas or something what you want to post it , but be sure the content should be unique and informative

Also you can use good keywords by search from google Adwords,

I have lots of experience in Blogging

Do pictures or videos help alot? or is the verbiage more important?

What are your best sources of making money thru your blog?

How often do you post a new article? I've heard you pretty much have to write everyday. How many hours a day do you spend at it? I think I'm a fairly decent writer, but it takes me quite a bit of time to edit reedit edit again to get it to where I'm happy with it.

I'm thinking I will try to gear it more towards a forum that I create some content but then very actively moderate.

I'm trying to get a good infrastructure in place so I can scale my website as I get more traffic.

Do you use an App to write/blog on the go? I am working with EverNote to get pics and everything organized to be able to post.

TIA

Thanks for the words of encouragement. My plan is one penny and I'm gonna be excited.

Also I will be blogging about dogs and weight loss. Two things I am very interested in. So even if I don't make any money, I will have felt the time was well spent and rewarding.

I don't really want to click through to my own site. What happens if someone gets caught doing this?

I was thinking by Jan 2017 I would be able to generate a little income. & by Jan 2019 I would have something generating fairly decent revenue.

It takes me quite a bit of time to edit and reedit. I'm not the fastest writer ever. I type about 50 wpm - and did just buy egonomic keyboard/mouse MS sculpt from deal I found on SD! Very nice KB mouse. & ordered a mechanical keyboard. Anyone use voice recognition to blog? I was using it a bit and seemed to work ok. If I used it to maybe just get the volume. It does seem to have trouble with about every 8th word.

I don't understand what XXX for my baking is?

not sure if writing fast is a requirement. its a matter of content. getting people to come back and visit. if you post once a week. your guests will visit once per week. post daily with new stories/ideas etc. you get daily visitors. etc. work with other similar blogs (fitness pets etc) and have them link to you or you to them.

for example your dog and weight loss blog...
blah blah blah
i use a gentle leader or choke chain when training my dog <insert picture>. leaders and chains can be found here <insert referral link>. for local training please call 1800 xxx-xxxx
blah blah

make it seem interesting and coming from a user perspective. if you push too hard you will just seem like you are a salesman.

Check out a guy named "Gary Vaynerchuk" He's a brilliant social media guru and has an endless supply of advice on how to do exactly this. He has hundreds of podcasts/videos ("ask gary vee") on all sorts of topics related to business, marketing, etc.

Never argue with idiots. First they bring you down to their level, then they beat you with experience.

You get banned from that ad program. It is hard to get banned though unless you are greedy and click on your own ads too frequently and from the same ip address you use to set up and log on to your ad account.

I just think so few people click on ads that you are unlikely to get anything out of them. If you are cheap, $5 a month hosting adds up and on top of that, nobody visits your site.

You need to have a niche and stick to it Something people want to see and come back to. Frequent posts, full scale social media. Instagram, FB, Snapchat, the next platform. The blog/youtuber market is somewhat mature. Temper your expectations. Look up Tim Ferriss he has written several articles on this, shared his experiences on his book promotions and interviews others.

My personal best views on my youtube videos of blog is "How to" content. I don't do it for the money at all but just for fun. Planning to try a few gear type reviews at some point too but not expecting it to be a job. If I ever got some products to try and review for it I would consider that a success.

Someone suggested referral links to amazon on products you use and this is a good idea. I have a couple of videos on how to change air filters in my car and linked to what I used. I have earned a little as people click on these but its maybe $4/1000 views if that. So your not going to make a living but maybe enough for a 6 pack from time to time.

Thanks for the advice. I will check out Tim's videos. I'm optimistic that i can make some money and for sure enjoy the journey. Although also sure it will take lots of learning, time, and hard work.

Appreciate everyone's good advice please keep it coming.

Yes Pictures help a lot to get website in top searches.

Best source is that you have to write unique things and informative things.

At starting Daily 2 to 3 posts and when your blog is old then it will be 5 post in a week is ok .
My strict opinion is that don't buy traffic from any online marketing resources .
I am directly using blogger.com.

If you want real traffic then website must be updated with a lots of good contents
Please ask more if you need more information
Thanks

Thanks techky very helpful. I'm going to have to work hard to produce 2 or 3 posts a day. I'm wondering how hard it would be to convince people I know to create articles for my blog? I would think most people would be a little flattered. Then I could polish it adding formating add pictures etc.

One thing I worry about is my blog losing all the content. I've been a little gun shy since one of my web sites "crashed" and I have not been able to get it back. I'm sure it's probably fairly easy for someone that is knowledgeable in this area. I know I spent alot of time developing a post on a web site forum. It might have been a little off topic and got removed. I was not happy because I spent so much time writing it. I was using the site as a place to go back and be able to access my work. So, if guest writers content is lost, I would guess they would not be happy and would not be willing to create anymore content.

I've decided I want to develop what I'm good at. & being a web developer is not where I want to go.

I took a quick look at blogger.com. Why use blogger vs. Wordpress? TIA.

I watched couple of Gary's videos. He had some good ideas. I could have done without so many F bombs but he is very motivational. While everyone called him an overnight success, I liked how he talked about patience and how long and hard he worked over time. .
