click lock vinyl plank flooring

looking to do about 250 sq.ft in my basement so looking to purchase about 275 sq ft. For extra. I see cheap, questionable quality stuff at lumber liquidators for about $1.59 per sq ft. home depot has their traffic master inter lock and traffic master allure ultra anywhere from $1.97- 2.97. does anyone know the difference between traffic master interlock and traffic master allure ultra? can't find much info on the interlock out there.

Either way , before tax it looks like this project will cost at least $420 with cheap lumber liquidators stuff, up to $5-600+ if I go for something at home depot. Lowe's doesn't show any reasonable prices online, I may go check them out in person to see if there's something I'm missing.

it doesn't seem like this stuff ever really goes on sale. does anyone have any experience finding a good price on decent quality stuff?

I have used the traffic master vinyl plank in a bathroom, over top existing tile, and the finished product looked great, it was really easy to work with and no mess. Just some fumes from the adhesive that lasted about 5 days.

my sister used the vinyl plank in her basement because:
- it's moist down there
- concrete floor was not level, so putting laminate wasnt a good idea unless we levelled the floor
the plank has endured several years now of Boston weather. it is definitely popping up in some spots, but overall looks fine. the savings that she had using the vinyl vs. laminate was significant, and if she gets a full 10 years from the plank, then i think it was worth it.

oh, and i've seen Home depot having sales on vinyl planks every so often, however you dont always get the best color choice.

if you have the money and time, i would vote for laminate, especially for such a large room.

Did you ever find a deal on click vinyl planking? Over in the landlord forums, people rave about Allure Ultra and put it in their rental properties because it's so durable and easy to install. I'm waiting for a deal on Allure Ultra as well, and when I search the SD hot deals forum, it looks like they come up every now and then and our $2.40 or under per square foot.

I haven't heard of an Allure "Interlock" product. Ultra interlocks when you click it together, so when you heard about interlock are you sure they weren't just referring to Ultra?

Ultra, which is thicker and is supposed to be water proof, is supposed to be a big step up from the plain Allure with the glue strip, which is just water resistant.
