How is it awful?

I am still rocking the original N5 (non-X) and the performance on that is perfectly fine - even gaming.
I don't know if its the 808, the 2gb of ram, Google play services or the way Marshmallow handles it all but the core apps on this thing are horrible. Especially photos, chrome, and the camera app. My phone constantly freezes and/or force closes.....and its a lag fest when it doesn't.
I agree, I was also having all these issues. Read up on XDA and seems like it may be a hardware issue (I got one of the first ones on preorder) since ppl were saying they had no problems on the latest batches of the phone. Complained with google support and they RMA'd me a new one right away, should be coming in today, so I'll see if that fixes all my lag issues. Snapchat/camera/photos was unusable at times, even after I reflashed and factory reset.

Similar to last FP deal on the 16GB model if you were able to use the CTHEBIGGAME coupon.

There is no way this works with Verizon (the Nexus line are GSM phones, Verizon is CDMA)

This phone has all the bands for carriers in the US. CDMA, GSM, LTE, etc.

From wikipedia: [wikipedia.org]
GSM/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
UMTS/WCDMA bands: 1/2/4/5/8
CDMA band class: 0/1/10
LTE (FDD) bands: 1/2/3/4/5/7/12/13/17/20/25/26/29
LTE (TDD) bands: 41

I also own the 5X, and there's lag everywhere. Are you running 6.0 on your original N5?

It has bands for all 4 carriers and so does the Nexus 6P and Nexus 6.

I have one, and it works with Verizon just fine, including LTE connectivity as well.Don't be so certain if you don't really know.
