Lowest I have ever seen it. Great deal at this price. I paid about $120 around BF and am very happy with what I paid for it...

In for one! I was lukewarm on the $129 deal. $99 made it extra sweet. For once, it paid to wait. Thanks OP!

Don't look at deals to make your decision. Make a decision for your true liking first and then look for deals. It will make you more happy.

To those who own this or similar, would you buy this as a walking-around lens for a trip to Europe (mostly outside, no museums, etc) if you already had a 50mm prime and a 18-55mm kit lens for your t5i? I'm a little concerned it may be too large and heavy to be ideal for walking around all day along with 2 kids in tow. Killer price, I just don't want to buy it, lug it there and then find it just doesn't work well for walking around the streets all day.

This lens is great for zoom photography. If you want to take pictures of the kids, you will find yourself constantly changing from the 18-55 for closeup stuff back to the 55-250 for zoom.

The lens is tiny for a zoom lens. I would still worry it isn't wide enough for walking around though.

I have the original 55-250IS lens and this one (STM). The STM is actually lighter and slightly smaller than the original, and a much better lens. This is actually one of the best lenses you can get before going for the much more expensive L lenses. At this price you won't regret it...ever...

Probably comparing apples and oranges because of the price difference, but before my last trip to Europe I picked up a Sigma 18-250mm lens [bhphotovideo.com] to replace the 18-55mm and 55-250mm lenses in my bag. It has been a superb lens that I'm sure far outpaces my abilities as an incredibly amateur photographer. It gave me all the range of the other two lenses and was easy to wear around my neck. I still have the other two lenses in my "spare" bag but honestly should just sell them locally for whatever I can get and recoup some of the costs of the Sigma. Note that I paid about $250 for the Sigma from BuyDig via eBay in October 2014. The BH link I provided isn't because it's a great price but was simply convenient for showing specs and reviews (which are stellar regardless of which site you follow). If you can wait for a similar deal, I think this is a good option.

just bought this last week when it was posted for $130. so I called in and they were able to give me a price adjustment and refund the $30 since it was within 14 days. if anyone else bought it within that time frame, call Canon at 1 800 385 2155. was very quick and easy.
