It is funny how this is posted for $240 on newegg and ebay last week and not a single thumbs up but as soon as it hits $230 it is pure fire ha ha.

I believe so. It was around $250 during Oct-Dec 2015. Bought mine for $225 ($250 with 5X Double EBay Bucks) on last Nov. $230 is a very good price for the phone. The heating issues is reduced dramatically with the new Lollipop version pushed by LG/AT&T.

This is an incredible price for a Snapdragon 810 phone with a great camera and OLED screen. This is now technically a last-generation processor (and not without its share of controversy), but it's going to be one of the faster phones on the market, and half the price of anything that could be considered a true "step up" (iPhone 6s, Galaxy S6).
Even If they cost the same, I'd rank this phone along with the Nexus 6P, and this is substantially cheaper. You could own this phone for a couple years and be fine with it. If I were in the market, I'd bite.

Yes, but no WiFi calling or VoLTE support. Also, you'll need an AT&T SIM card to get the 5.1 software upgrade which fixes a LOT of problems.

Bought the phone during holiday and have been using it extensively. Takes some time to get used to the buttons on the back, biggest annoyance is the volume rocker as before i could change volume with the phone down, now i cant. Curve of the phone is not an issue at all but all my friends tell me its weird. Phone does run hot. I had a temperature monitor on it and it usually run from 80-110. There was a week when either the sensor was off or something was going on where it was from 100-130. The former temperature are withing operating range, however the phone does feel significantly hotter than say the s4 i was using before which would have higher temperature, according to the sensor. Do not notice any throttling or slow downs. Brightness of the screen can not be maxed out because theres a temp warning, at most gets about half way. The phone is excessively bright anyways. At lowest setting its still too bright. I heard its to counter the negative effects of an OLED screen. Battery life is decent, I'm a pretty heavy user and can not get whole day use. But considering i have >4-5 hr screen on time and a majority of that time is gaming its to be expected. Good phone, its a steal at this price.

Does the sim card have to be active or can it just use an ATT prepaid sim card that's not attached to an account and download the update via wifi?

It needs to have a small amount of working data to register the phone for OTA upgrade. Most people borrow an SIM card from a friend with AT&T or Cricket to get it rolling.

Love all these inexpensive mid range Androids hitting the market but, for the price, this flagship pretty much blows them all away if you purchase a phone based on specs alone. Unfortunately, I've come to love phones with two sim slots.

tmo wifi calling can work when you flash the the wifi caliing module to it.
also, it doesn't need att sim card for firmware upgrade ..

I bought this in August for $250, and I've been using it on T-mobile since then. It's a great phone with no notable weaknesses, and it's a steal at this price. It looks good, and it has great build quality, a great screen, good battery life, and a great camera, plus the OS is relatively close to stock android.

In my own experience, the difference between Android 5.0 and 5.1 on this phone is not as big as some people make it out to be: I thought it was great on 5.0, and I continue to think so on 5.1. As another poster mentioned, you need to have an AT&T sim to receive the OTA upgrade to 5.1, but if you're comfortable with some tinkering, there's a guide on xda showing how to flash the firmware from the same model on Puerto Rico's Claro carrier, no SIM needed. From there you can root the phone and after a few tweaks you're good to go. The process was a little scary but well worth the trouble.
