Product/Website Registrations I Did Not Complete??

In the past couple of weeks I have received thank you emails from two different companies for registering product and account registration. One is from Lenovo, and the registration includes a proper model and serial number for the laptop I purchased back in July. The other is from Mayday Games Inc. for account registration. I did buy items from Mayday but it was probably about 1 year ago. I can't recall if I registered for either of these things, and if I did it was 6 months to a year ago. If it had only happened once it wouldn't have phased me but it's a bit strange for it to happen twice like this. I don't have any strange charges on my credit cards, so I am just wondering if it was a coincidence or if there is something I should be looking out for?

In all likelihood someone with a similar email to you isn't very good at filling out web forms. Treat it like any other misdirected mail: either ignore it or contact the sender to try and get it fixed.

Pay stubs, mortgage applications, military forms, job interviews, scholarships, medical information and all sorts of other random website registrations or order confirmations. I evaluate if it's legitimate or possible spam and if it's from a person or automated and respond to many informing them they have the wrong email address, but sometimes I deliberately take my time sending a message of that nature. There are a few that I couldn't unsubscribe from (login required) that have custom spam rules in place and CAN SPAM violations reported. I also get a few random calls from people trying to order kegs for delivery (apparently my number is similar to a liquor store), these people are usually quite rude so I "take" their orders. Growing up my phone number was 1 digit off from a pizza place so I've had a lot of practice at this game.

It could be somebody else registered with your email address or it could be a glitch on the company's end or a glitch in your email. I'd search your email for earlier messages from these companies, it might help you figure out what's going on. You could also try logging into any account you may have even if you have to do a password reset.
