All these brand snobs around here....christ.

I picked up this computer on cyber week and almost skipped it from all the people complaining about their quality. I am so far very glad I purchased it. The build quality is very nice, touch screen works great, blazing fast.

I did swap in a SSD and loaded up the memory. Pulling it apart was a bit tricky but after googling it I did find a step by step that made it simple.

The only thing Im not a super big fan of is the touch pad. Its a bit weird the way it works and sometimes doesnt respond to a light tap. My old Lenovo was better. My old lenovo had to be all super glued together though bc the hinge parts sucked and failed over time. I am very impressed with how much more stout the Acer hinges are.

I paid $588 with tax, $500 no tax and no shipping is a screaming deal. I see why it made the front page.

It's a really good deal even considering the acer brand.

I have an older model of this, and it's held up better than my other recent laptops. I upgraded the memory to 12GB and added a m2 SSD. Overall, it just works.

The touchpad is better than my wife's Yoga 3, but the Yoga is very light and sturdy.

Shame you wont be able to run games at all. I would have preferred an SSD over a 1 TB hard drive, still I'm debating it as lack of tax makes this a good deal.

That depends on the game you want to play, and the lowest resolution and graphics settings you're willing to accept. The Skylake integrated graphics in the i7 is actually very capable for an iGPU, but you won't be playing anything taxing at 1080p with reasonable settings at playable frame rates.

If you're not going to be playing the newest demanding titles, and are fine with average resolutions and graphics settings, you should be able to play quite a few games at acceptable frame rates.

That said...if you really enjoy playing PC games, I'd high suggest springing for a system with a bit more GPU power, even at the cost of CPU if you're on a budget, as most games are GPU limited far before they'll tax your CPU...especially with Intel chipsets.

* Note that since this machine has a 1080p display, playing in lower resolutions will make for a smaller playable area on the screen, so something to seriously consider.
