I already have a 24" gas snow blower for my driveway, but after shoveling my large deck and walkway of almost 2 ft. of snow this past weekend, I decided to look for something lightweight and small. Amazon currently has the Snow Joe 18" 13 AMP snow thrower for $99 [amazon.com], but there is currently a 3-5 day wait. No storms in the forecast so I'm fine with that.

According to camel3x this is the lowest price for this model. Remember this is a corded snow thrower so you'll need a properly rated extension cord, and at 13 AMP is not the most powerful, but it should get the job done. I probably wouldn't recommend it for very long driveways however. I think for walkways, wide stairs, decks, this would be perfect.

I hear ya. Anything more than a foot you would probably need to make multiple passes or take chunks out of the snow. One reviewer described it as mowing very tall grass - you have to attack it slowly. Check out the most recent Amazon reviews about using this snow thrower after Jonas. Surprisingly positive comments even for people with long driveways.

As someone who doesn't live in a snow area, why not just get a flamethrower?

i have one of these...frozen extension cords are an issue with electric blowers.

they stiffen up and just don't move as easy.

but a frozen cord beats a shovel any day.

Homedepot one can cut snow upto 13 inches deep by 15 inch wide (vs 9 inches deep by 18 inches wide on amazon) plus home depot one has steel auger (vs plastic one on amazon).

I will recommend home depot one.

I have this model and it works great. I abuse it and it still works great. I do have to make multiple passes sometimes but I would expect that from a $100 snow blower. it's a great budget, starter blower.
